Tranquility At A Casino RV Park

The 27-space RV Park at Casino Aztar in Caruthersville, MO is located directly on the Mississippi River. It was constructed about two years ago, so it has the modern conveniences RVers look for: pull-through sites, full hookups, cable TV, free wi-fi , 24-hour security and modern laundry and shower facilities. It is a delightful little place to stop and relax for a while. Two of our favorite activities at the Aztar RV Park are (1) sitting on the park bench watching the Mississippi River traffic and (2) taking a stroll along the nature trail (pictured below.) The Nature Trail offers a peaceful respite from the hustle and bustle out there. Informational posts along the way tell us about plant and animal life indiginous to this part of the Midwest and about the history of the area. And, every so often during the walk, a spectacular view of the river can be seen through the trees.

While one would think this facility is way off the beaten path, it is actually located just 5 miles from I-55 exit 19 in the southernmost section (often referred to as the boot) of Missouri.

The charming, older riverboat casino is just a stone's throw away from any site in the RV Park. The bottom deck is smoke-free, slots and gaming tables on the main deck and a poker room on the top deck. Casino Aztar was recently purchased by the Isle of Capri company and it is expected that the casino will be renovated and upgraded after the new owners assume management of the gaming, dining and entertainment aspects of the operation.
