Navajo Nation plans to open a casino
The Navajo Nation that extends for 27,000 square miles in Utah, Arzona and New Mexico, is set to enter the gambling business. It plans to open its first casino in Church Rock, New Mexico later this year. Church Rock is located north of Interstate 40 at the Arizona state line. Tribal officials announced that construction will begin next month. It will be a small casino with 400 slots & 7 tables. At this point, it appears the parking lot is designed to accomodate cars only. The tribe indicated that 18-wheelers would be prohibited...but has not yet indicated whether it will be RV-Friendly.
The Window Rock location is the first of six casinos being planned by the Navajo Nation -- 2 in New Mexico and 4 in Arizona. A future Navajo casino near Flagstaff, AZ is expected to include an RV Park.
The entrance of the Navajos (the largest Indian Nation in the country) into the gaming business comes after many years of resistence from some of its members. Ancient Navajo legends condemn gambling and modern Navajos have expressed fears that gambling could spread addictions throughout the community. However, current tribal leaders say the casinos are necessary to help the Navajo economy.

Casinos not providing RV parking may be missing an opportunity. EXAMPLE-Seven Feathers Casino and RV Resort, Canyonville, OR. Absolutely beautiful park with large spaces, patios, and tables. Very friendly employees, reasonable fees and a shuttle to the Casino every 30 minutes. With a member card there are discounts. Since we travel with our dog, we appreciated the large, grassy, fenced dog area complete with pick up bags and means of disposal by the gate. We thought this park was one of the prettiest around and were happy to extend our stay and leave some money at the Seven Feathers Casino and RV Resort. EJAnderson

I agree with the first writers comments, 7-feathers is a must stop RV campground. and was so impressed we go down there once a year. I was told by management that eventually they hope to make it a destination campground, and they intend to add a water theme park and a 18-hole gof course. Very nice RV park, indeed.

If you're looking for a name for this new casino at Church Rock, why not: "The Pyramid at Sundance."
Explanation: The Red rocks in the background form a Pyramid and the Churchrock and the doorway to the casino is directly across the road from the community of Sundance. I think it's a coooooooool name.
