Lots of Penny Slots in Waterloo

THE ISLE CASINO & HOTEL, WATERLOO, IOWA

This pretty casino is located on US-218 in Waterloo, Iowa. It opened just one year ago, so a lot of RV travelers still aren't aware that it's here. The 35,000 square-foot casino is actually a riverboat all on one level. It features over 1,100 slots in all denominations and 30 pit/table games. It has Isle of Capri signature Buffet and Farraday's restaurants plus a Starbuck's.

Smoking is still allowed in the casino and there are no separate sections for non-smokers at The Isle. Being seated next to a smoker at a gaming table or slot machine can spoil an otherwise pleasant gaming experience.

To get to The Isle take I-380 to exit 71A and merge onto US-218 south for 1.4 mile, then west on Shaulis Road. On The Isle property, follow signs to the bus parking area west of the casino building. Overnight parking is permitted for self-contained RVs.

  • Smokers and non smokers should be separeted... non smokers inside and smokers..... outside!! Suicide should be a personal thing

  • I'm a smoker and I'm all for keeping the non-smokers in a seperate section from us - put them inside, outside, wherever you want, as long as it's away from the smokers :-)! I wouldn't dream of shooing them outside and denying them the right to enjoy their gaming, so be sure if you do put them outside, have a couple of tables or slot machines there too. ;-)

Where we are currently located, we're within driving distance of 3 casinos - two which allow smoking but also have large non smoking areas and one which is completely non smoking. At the non smoking casino, the smokers go outside and congregate near the door to have their smoke. People entering walk through a cloud. I fail to see how this is better than having an excellent filtering system and seperate smoking/non-smoking areas.

Just FYI, we no longer frequent the non-smoking casino, but it's *almost* as much because of the slot/gaming choices as it is because I smoke. (Hubby is a non-smoker, but thankfully a polite one. :-)

  • I agree, and for my personal agenda, drinkers should all be made to take breathalizer tests before leaving the premises. The shock of getting smacked head on by a non-smoking do gooder drunk behind the wheel!

  • I am not much of a gambler but I had an early flight out of Tucson recently and wanted a hotel near the airport. There is a new casino hotel close to the airport that looked interesting, the Diamond Desert on Nogales Highway. Price was reasonable, so we thought we would try it. Nice place. We walked into the casino and I was surprised to see an enclosed area that was for non-smokers. First time I had seen this. Very nice, as the rest of the casino was smoke filled and not very pleasant for my wife and I who do not smoke.
