Weather Anywhere

Finding a local weather station in unknown parts can be a challenge... or at least it can take a couple minutes. I tried out a cute little digital weather station from Brookstone that displays a 5-day forecast according to whatever airport you're near. In fact you can select from 4 different airports if there are that many close by.
I was able to wake up wherever I was and see the local conditions as well as the forecast for the next 5 days on this nice little LCD mounted above my kitchen sink. Pressing the little button on the side (the ONLY control on the whole unit) changes the active weather station so you can pick the closest, or even the closest to where you might be going, as long as it isn't too far away.

I bought this little device a few months ago and, while the concep[t was intriguing, I find it often doesn't have a clue what the local temps. are. Can this thing be defective somehow?

The thing to remember is it is the temperature at the airport, not necessarily at your rig. We love our gadget!

The coverage area looks ver-r-ry small. Nowhere near our home is listed, some states show no coverage at all, e.g. Colorado. Maybe it will get better.

I solved the problem of local temps by using an inside/outside thermomter and atomic clock I bought from Sam's for $20. I stuck the ouside sensor on the side of my trailer with Velcro. It is in the shade by the awning. I usually take it off when traveling but one time I forgot to take it off and it was still there when I got home.

Before you grab this product, which has a great concept indeed, check out the dismal reviews of it at amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EYYW1U/ref=dp_cp_ob_title_0/002-3329270-5664832
