2007 Saturns: Consumer Reports not impressed

Saturn automobiles have been popular dinghy cars for years now. The company actually promotes the vehicles to the RV community as the perfect motorhome tag along. The new 2007 Consumer Reports Buying Guide, however, offers a less than favorable opinion of Saturn automobiles. If you own a Saturn and wish to comment, please tell us what you think.

  • We have owned two Saturns. A 1992 SL2 and a 2005 Ion. We liked them both. At 6' 1" I did not fit in the Ion very well due to lack of headroom, but it was my wifes car. She fit just fine at 5' 2". We had good luck with them mechanically and they got great gas mileage. I had a good year in my business so I traded the perfectly good 2005 Saturn for a 2007 Lexus.

  • I don't know what the consumer guide is talking about. We have a 2006 saturn vue and have towed it every where. It is great to tow and easy to hook up. It is also a comfortable car to drive when not being towed.

  • We have a 04 Vue that we drive every day and tow as well. This is the best vehicle we have had in 30 years. Consumer Reports is seemingly biased toward foreign cars. If we took their advice, we would all be driving 4 cylinder 4 door airbags with 50 mph bumpers

  • I have a 2005 Ion and think it is a wonderful car. I've traveled about 12000 mi towing it and 20000 driving it in the past 18 months. I get 30+ mpg. I'm 6' and find the Ion roomy as does my 45# co-pilot Churchill who's happpy either in the front or sprawling across the backseat.

It's a snap to either hook or unhook. I use a Blue Ox including its supplemental brake

  • We have a 2006 VUE and love it! It tows wonderfully and is comfortable for sightseeing. Our 6'5" son can ride in the front or back in comfort. Perhaps Consumer Reports should check with owners of Saturns before making a judgement.

  • I have towed my 2000 Saturn L200 over 80000 miles. The car has been GREAT for flat towing. I have run power through my light cord from the coach battery to the car battery and never have to pull fuses.

  • I would be interested to know how you run the power to the car from the coach. Do you plug into the cigarette lighter? Does your mileage crank off with the fuse in place? blowout56@att.net

  • Son-in-law has a 2004 Vue.. most un-comfortable backseat I've ever been in. Frontseat isn't much better. Yeah, maybe I'm prejudiced, he's not much of a driver either!

  • I pull a 2001 L100 and it has 93,000 on it. Change oil every 3,000; 1 battery from Wally World and a couple sets of tires. That's all, does anyone have dinghy experience with the 2007 Outlook?
