Fleetwood to close Canadian trailer factory
Fleetwood is closing a plant in Lindsay, Ont., on July 25. The plant is located about 65 miles northeast of Toronto and employees 315 workers. It's Fleetwood's only manufacturing facility in Canada.
The plant was opened in 1972 and supplies travel trailers for the Canadian market under the brands Pioneer, Mallard, Terry, Lynx, Prowler and Dakota. The company said the Canadian market will now be served by four U.S. plants. Fleetwood said it is also closing its Campbellsville, Kentucky facility.
The company recently announced that it was opening a plant in Mexico, where the labor is cheaper, to build some of its products.

Sounds like a good reason to avoid purchasing Fleetwood RV's if they are going to be manufactured in Mexico.

Fleetwood units have been boxy ugly units for some time now. They went the way that GM did by standardizing almost their whole line. By changing the graphics and materials inside they raised or lowered their prices. We haven't considered a Fleetwood brand in years when looking for a new rig.

We have purchased several fleetwoods in the past. One being the Pioneer, which we were proud of because it was made in the new KY. plant, and we are looking at the 21cks. However, I stumbled on this news about closing the KY. plant and shifting mfg. to mexico...sorry to fleetwood and it's shareholders. The cost is already way to high for what really is a very cheap product. I'm sure that you will not pass along your labor reduction costs to your consumers. You have every right to cross the border to save money, and we have every intention to stop buying your product....
