Famous RVer is named "Bachelor of the Year"

Matthew McConaughey, actor and RVer, has been named People magazine's "Bachelor of the Year,” the first avid RVer to receive the honor.
"I love warm weather and summertime," the actor says in the magazine's "Hottest Bachelors" issue, on newsstands beginning Friday, June 15.
And what the 37-year old movie star also loves is traveling with his Airstream trailer. “There’s nothing not to like about it,” he says. “The freedom of being able to pull up, stop, power up anywhere you want -- beach or whatever. Set up and have your front yard different every single day. Whatever you want it to be, and to see the country that way – it’s awesome.”
For one of his movies, Sahara, McConaughey chose to do his press tour with his trailer rather than the traditional “fly there, stay in a hotel” routine. When he travels with his Airstream he often mingles in RV parks with the other campers.

I fell in love with this RV travel when I was 22 and my buddy's dad let three of us take his 27 foot clas C on a mountain bike trip all through the southwest from Washington. I bought my first RV at 25 and my new one last year at 31. I have a ways to go until I can go full time but will always have an RV and am seein younger and younger people in RV's in my weekend travels.

It is actually not a far leap for most stars from movies and TV to make the leap to RV's. When shooting on location they many times have either their own private Trailer or if they don't rate that may have a room in a "Star Wagon" which is a bunch of "dressing rooms" on wheels towed to the location by companies who do just that.
I remember the star of the TV show Sabrina, came out of her trailer on the lot at (I think it was Paramount) one day as a friend and I were headed to the set of Angel.
Mellisa stopped to talk to us a second because I commented about the cat that was peaking out the screen door. She said she loved the trailer for the most part, and could see how people could make a life style out of it. The cat seemed to agree. It was as I remember a mid level travel trailer nothing huge but then again you don't need it to be when your only going to be there for a few hours a day.
I am happy to see Matt is enjoying his Airstream, he seems like a pretty down to earth guy. Good to know there are a few in Tinseltown that don't feel it is below their station in life to be found in "a trailer" of all things!
Who knows, maybe more of them do it than we know? Without makeup and an entourage who knows where they might be able to go for a quick vacation from the pressure of the entertainment industry.
NASCAR drivers have been using RV's for years and with the spectacular rise in popularity they are reaching star status themselves. Here's hoping more of our stars join the life style we know and love.

I bought my first MH in 1989, on my 2nd one now. I use it to visit my daughter in Keller, TX. My 4 yr old grandson, Joshy, loves the MH. He thinks it's cool! When we are there we park along the house and Joshy insists on playing in the MH, & demands to sleep in it. Do you think we have a future RV'r?
