Help for the food budget
A regular at the Workamper forums, posted this tip. Angel Ministries, which operates in 32 states, offers a generous food package each month for $25. There are no income requirements to sign up. If you order the regular package you can also order specialty packages. Usually a local church or community organization is the one handling the program. Angel Ministries sees this program as a way to help people and to spread the word so a salvation tract is included in each order. See Angel Ministries on the Web for more about their program and where you can order. Hey, every little bit helps and I'm told the food is good quality! Jaimie

I have a *REAL* problem with you suggesting that RVers take advantage of a ministry designed to help out the disadvantaged by providing food at a very low cost. In my opinion, it is crass and downright low to do this. What next? Tips on how to sign up for welfare, food stamps and unemployment just because you can and not because you need it?

I can understand where you are coming from. However, some full-time RVers and Workampers live on $1000 or less a month. They can certainly use the help from a program like this.

Jaimie, I owe you an apology. I shot off my mouth (fingers?) before I read the entire Angelfood Ministries site.
They encourage everyone to participate, even those who are not in financial need. Some churches consider this to be good stewardship of their money. Again, my apologies.

Not a problem. I'm glad you looked at their site. It sounds like the churches benefit from the program too in "additional income to community outreach funds" and in opportunities for members to provide service to others.

Angel Food began as Foodshare- the concept is the power of group buying, bulk pricing. Sometimes we have had to do a few hours community setrvice to be able to get into the group, but it is still a good deal.
I found it hard to fit all that food into RV freezer, so cooked up some and shared it with the neighbors.

I told my husband about the program and that I was going to do it for the month of June. Right now we are just doing a little bit better than just scrapping by. What his suggestion was, even though I can't afford it right now,but will soon, is to donate a 25 dollar box to the church to help someone that can't afford it. That sounded like the best idea yet. So you can help yourself and someone else too.
