THIS ISSUE'S CIRCULATION: 4,823
FROM CHUCK WOODBURY
editor, http://www.RVtraveler.com
Dear Reader,
Welcome to the tenth issue of the RV Traveler Newsletter,
brought to you by the websites and sponsors above. And a
special welcome to the more than 1,000 new readers since our
last issue two weeks ago.
One of the great joys of RVing is observing wildlife that we don't
see at home. In my own travels, I have seen just about everything
the States have to offer -- deer, elk, moose, bear, coyotes, foxes,
javalinas in the Southwest and alligators in the South. But sometimes
the greatest joy comes from the critters that wander into our
campsites, whether by land, air or even sea (A seal once jumped
on rocks only yards from my campsite). One day, while camped near
Bend, Ore., I had quite an adventure with an army of chipmunks, and it
led to one of my favorite essays in my then-newspaper Out West. I titled
it "Chipmunk Wars." If you have a good sense of humor, I think it will
bring a few laughs. Read it at
http://www.OutWestNewspaper.com/chipmunk.html
Now, some news and information you can use.
NEW CAMPGROUND DIRECTORY
CAMPGROUND DIRECTORY FOR BIG RIG RVs
We are now offering a wonderful new campground directory aimed at RVers who drive large motorhomes and fifth wheelers. Best Bet Big Rigs Campground Directory lists campgrounds in the Western states and along major Interstates that either cater to large RVs or who have ample space to accommodate them. The authors personally visited every park, and even recommend the best individual campsites in some as well as pointing out local attractions. Read more about this directory or order it (for a modest $11.95) at http://www.NewRVer.com/bigrigbook.html
TRAVEL CENTER GUIDE HELPS RVers, TOO
And don't forget to get the RVers Friend directory of Travel Centers (once called truck stops) that cater to RVs, some of which allow free overnight stays and provide dump stations, propane and even Internet access. This book, too, sells for only $11.95. http://www.NewRVer.com/rversfriend.html
NATIONAL PARKS MISSING LINKS
If you have tried to access a website of a National Park, you have likely found that
it's nowhere to be found. And it probably won't be for awhile because of a lawsuit now
underway in which the Department of Interior must prove that access to the data on
its websites is secure. This promises to be no easy task, and so don't look for your
favorite NPS website to be back online any time soon.
