THIS ISSUE'S CIRCULATION: 9,607

FROM CHUCK WOODBURY
editor, http://www.RVtraveler.com

Welcome to the 15th issue of the RV Traveler Newsletter, brought to
you by the websites and sponsors above. And a special welcome to the
1,200 new subscribers since our last issue two weeks ago.

I struck quite a nerve last issue when I wrote about how sad it was
to say goodbye to the motorhome I've owned for more than 11 years.
Many of you wrote to tell me your own stories about parting with your
RVs. Reader John Ellis reminded me that saying goodbye was
not the end of the story of my wonderful coach. "Celebrate the joy the
next person and his/her family are going to have," he wrote. "Don't think
of them as the 'buyer' but other good people who will keep the experience
going. Our 'buyers' did us a huge favor and sent us a snapshot of their
first camping trip in 'our' popup, complete with small children looking
happier than you can imagine. It was then that I realized that our
much-loved RV would still be cared for and keep giving good memories
to others and us as well."

Almost as an afterthought, I wrote that the first six readers who sent me
a joke to cheer me up would receive a free copy of the 2001 edition of my book
"Free Campgrounds of the West." Well, more than a hundred of you responded,
and I ended up giving away a dozen books. I have notified everyone who
earned one, but I have still not written back to everyone. If that includes you,
I'm sorry to be so tardy. I'm sending thank you letters one by one but it
may take me awhile to finish.

Also, I guess I wasn't clear about what I will do once my RV is sold. Many
of you asked if I was giving up RVing. No, never. . . I'm searching for a
new RV, which I plan to use a lot in the years ahead.

ISN'T IT STRANGE?
A recent edition of American Cowboy Magazine tossed out these
paradoxes to ponder: "Can a pizza get to your house faster than an
ambulance? Does your drugstore make sick folks walk all the way to the
back of the store to get their prescriptions filled while the healthy folks
can buy cigarettes at the front of the store? And. . .do you park your new
pickup truck in the driveway so you can keep your worthless junk locked
safely away in the garage?"
