EXCELLENT BOOK ABOUT FULL-TIME RVing
Sharlene Minshall has been traveling full-time in her motorhome for 16 years. She has covered nearly a quarter million miles and written five books about RVing including "Full-Time RVing: How To Make It Happen" ($14.95). Read about the book, and Sharlene, too, (an inspiration to all who dream of the full-time RV lifestyle) at http://www.RVbookstore.com/minshall.html

HOME VIDEOS EXPLAIN RVs TO NOVICE RVers

FERRY YOUR RV TO MEXICO'S YUCATAN PENINSULA
It soon may be possible to visit Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula with your RV without making the long drive there. Tampa, Florida's Port Authority recently approved a plan to permit a ferry to transport vehicles and passengers to the Yucatan Peninsula as early as November.

RVING VANCOUVER ISLAND
With the value of the U.S. dollar so strong, it's a great time for Americans to visit Canada. And one beauty spot is Vancouver Island and its "little piece of England," the city of Victoria. A Seattle Times reporter recently explored the island in a rented motorhome and even though he got rained on a lot, his story may still persuade you to make a trip of your own there one day. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/travel/134457135_renfrew19.html

DELIVER RVs FOR FUN AND PROFIT
From the book "Support Your RV Lifestyle: An Insider's Guide to Working On the Road" (http://www.RVbookstore.com/support.html): "RVs have to be transported from the manufacturer to the dealer. Transport companies. . . contract with drivers who work as independent contractors. Owners of trucks capable of hauling 5th wheels and trailers are paid so much per mile from factory to dealer to deliver the rig. Also needed are drivers to deliver motorhomes. The earning potential is more than $30,000 per year for the serious worker."

EXTENDED RV WARRANTIES: HOW COSTS ARE CALCULATED
Have you ever wondered how the cost of an RV extended warranty is calculated? For example, did you know that the location of a motorhome's engine affects the price? Or if an engine is turbocharged the warranty costs more? Here's an explanation of costs for various types of RVs: http://www.newrver.com/warranty.html

ADVICE ON BOONDOCKING
RVers who stay in places other than official campgrounds are known as boondockers. Most often, they don't pay to camp. Here is a superb overview of boondocking: http://www.phrannie.org/boondock.html

GENERATE ELECTRICITY FROM A BABBLING BROOK
Here's a nifty device that boondockers could use to generate power from a stream. Power Pal is worth looking at for serious "dry campers." http://www.backwoodssolar.com/newsletter/articles.htm (scroll down the page).

"DRIVE" THE ALASKA HIGHWAY BEFORE YOU GO
Three new home videos provide a sneak preview of traveling north of our border. "RV Alaska" details Bob and Judy Howen's 67-day, 6,700-mile trip on the Alaska Highway and then in Alaska itself (with a return trip via the Inland Passage by ferry). Their other videos, "Western Canada By RV" and "Eastern Canada by RV" are equally entertaining. Read more about these home videos or order at http://www.RVbookstore.com/howens.html

WOW! A TON OF GREAT RV INFORMATION, CANADIAN-STYLE
The Calgary (Alberta) Sun Newspaper publishes a wonderful, jam-packed RV travel section. It's one of the finest RV travel sections we have ever seen online or even in print. Check it out. You will not be disappointed: http://www.calgarysun.com/generic15.shtml

RVs AND TAX WRITE-OFFS
If you're shopping for an RV, there are a couple of ways to make the financing tax-deductible. One option is to take out a home-equity loan. Generally, interest on home-equity loans of up to $100,000 can be written off using the itemized mortgage deduction, no matter what the loan proceeds are used for. If you're buying an RV that's equipped with basic living accommodations, there is a second option. Your RV may qualify as a second home, allowing you to deduct interest on the loan just as if you were buying a conventional vacation home. To qualify as a second home, your RV must have sleeping, cooking and toilet facilities. In addition, your loan must be secured by the RV in order to qualify for the mortgage deduction. For more information, visit http://www.newrver.com/taxation.html

KEY WEST FLORIDA BOOTS RVs FROM PARKING LOTS
Don't try staying overnight in your RV in a Key West, Florida, shopping center parking lot or along a scenic beach. Because a local campsite costs $75 a night or more, many RVers have been staying at freebie spots. Key West's mayor recently told shopping center owners to either apply to become an official RV park or kick out all overnight RVers. The result: local police are booting RVers left and right.
