FROM CHUCK WOODBURY
editor, http://www.RVtraveler.com
Welcome to the 31st edition of the RV Traveler Newsletter, brought
to you absolutely free by the websites and sponsors above and a
mild-mannered reporter named Chuck, who believes that RVs are among
the best things in life behind family, friends and cheese crackers.
DELIVER MOTORHOMES FOR FUN AND PROFIT
Here's a job idea that I bet most of you have never thought of
delivering motorhomes from where they are made to where they
are sold, or some variation of that. We are now offering a book in our
RV Bookstore that tells how to do just that, and earn a good living
to boot. Author Craig Chilton claims that 100,000 people work
delivering RVs and other large vehicles, and he offers a step-by-step
plan on how to do it. Read more about "How To Get Paid $50,000 a Year
To Travel Without Selling Anything." .
. . . And check out Chilton's HOME VIDEO, too, that deals specifically
about delivering motorhomes to RV dealers.
And now, on with the issue. . .

GETTING CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET WHILE TRAVELING BY RV
It's not always easy getting online when you're on the road. Here's
a comprehensive discussion of options. There's a lot of good
advice here that would take you hours to piece together on your own.

AND. . . ACCESS THE INTERNET WITH YOUR LAPTOP AND CELL PHONE
even in areas where digital service is not available. Read more:

HOME VIDEO SHOWS HOW TO WINTERIZE AN RV
Mark Polk has just released a new VHS home video titled "Winterizing Your
RV." If you don't plan to use your RV for the winter, then this half-hour VHS
home video will be a huge help in winterizing your rig. Read more or
order at http://www.NewRVer.com/winterize.html .
WOW! A GUIDE TO ROADFOOD!
Okay, those of us who travel in wheeled homes have a kitchen
onboard where we can prepare a meal about as easy as at
home. But, who among us doesn't yearn to leave the cooking and
dishwashing behind to sample the food fare at a roadside diner?
Good, bad or ugly, it's almost always interesting. And here's a
website dedicated to road food, edited by Jane and Michael Stern,
who have made a career of finding America's best regional
roadside eateries: http://www.roadfood.com

STATE PARKS
This time of year, when the activity at most state parks has slowed
to a crawl, parks in the states noted below still get a lot of use,
especially by RVers who have gone south in search of the sun.

California
Arizona
Florida
Texas

EXPLORE LAVA CAVES IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA
Have you ever ventured into a lava cave? Called "lava tubes," they
are formed by flowing lava. As it cools, caves are created, some a
hundred yards or longer. Perhaps the best place to explore lava tubes
is in northeastern California at Lava Beds National Monument. You'll
find a beautiful campground with 24 primitive sites within easy
walking distance of the visitor center and many of the cave entrances.
Read a story about a visit to Lava Beds National Monument at
http://www.bayarea.com/mld/cctimes/living/travel/4269547.htm
GOT A PICKUP? A FIFTH-WHEELER MIGHT BE YOUR KIND OF RV
If you're an aspiring RVer, you have many choices of the type of RV
to buy. If you already own a pickup truck, then you might want to
consider getting a fifth wheel trailer. Here's a brief rundown of this
type of recreational vehicle.

LONG LIST OF EMPLOYERS WHO HIRE RVers:
DIESEL, PRICES INCH HIGHER
Diesel prices rose again this week a fraction of a penny to a national
average of $1.461 per gallon. This is about 11 cents a gallon more than
this time last year. This week's average price of a gallon of unleaded
gasoline is $1.45, with the lowest price in Seattle at $1.09.
"DRIVE" THE ALASKA HIGHWAY BEFORE YOU GO
Three new home videos provide a sneak preview of traveling north of
our border. "RV Alaska" details Bob and Judy Howen's 67-day, 6,700-mile
trip on the Alaska Highway and then in Alaska itself (with a return trip via
the Inland Passage by ferry). Their other videos, "Western Canada By RV"
and "Eastern Canada by RV" are equally entertaining. Read more about
these home videos or order at http://www.RVbookstore.com/howens.html
AND IF YOU PLAN TO DRIVE TO ALASKA or Western Canada, you MUST
bring along The Milepost the VERY best guidebook to traveling the
Alaska Highway and other roads of the far North:

SOLAR POWER AND BOONDOCKING TIPS
Do you enjoy camping in your RV far from the crowds, but where there
are no electric hookups? Then perhaps you should harness the power of
the sun to generate power to run your RV's gizmos and gadgets.
Combine solar power with a power inverter and you'll be set to avoid
the crowds and electrical hookups forever: Learn more at
http://www.workersonwheels.com/general/boondocking.html
WINDMILLS FOR POWER
We have seen RVers boondocking in the desert, generating their power
from a windmill erected alongside their rig. Learn more about how to
do this at http://www.dulley.com/docs/f485.htm

EMAIL SCAMS. THE TWELVE WORST
If you read this, then you are probably both interested in both RVing
and the Internet. As a Web user, you have likely received some very
fishy-sounding email -- promising this and that, and seeming too good
to be true. Here is a list compiled by the Federal Trade Commission
outlining the 12 most common email scams:

HOME VIDEOS HELP NEW RV OWNERS LEARN TO USE THEIR RIGS

HOW RVers MAKE LONG DISTANCE PHONE CALLS
The Escapees Club recently surveyed its web visitors about their phone
calling habits while on the road. The questions was: "What is the primary
method that you use to make long distance phone calls?" Most of the
RVers use their cell phone (66 percent). The second most popular method
is a prepaid calling card (16 percent). Learn about the Escapees or
