FROM CHUCK WOODBURY
editor, http://www.RVtraveler.com

Welcome to Issue 39 of the RV Traveler Newsletter, the world's
largest independently published email newsletter published by
an RVer for other RVers.

This is will be my last issue for 2002, but I'll return on
Jan. 5 with another info-packed edition. In the meantime,
my family and I will spend a lot of time with friends and our
families, both here in Seattle and in Boston.

I'd like to wish you a cyber-load of good cheer for you and your
family for the holidays! May your days be filled with good friends,
good health and good cheer. However, if you partake of too
much liquid cheer, please avoid the driver's seat until you've
slept it off. Don't take a chance of ruining your own life or
someone else's.

That said, here's a last dose of RV Traveler news and info
for 2002.

part to up the odds that a campground will accept their furry
traveling companions and those of others in the future.

FAMILIAR VOICE ON NEW RV TV ADS
A new set of television commercials is about to debut for the
GoRVing Coalition to promote the RV lifestyle. Shot in California,
Nevada and the Pacific Northwest, the ads show RVers enjoying
various activities. In one, a group of young people play a version of
the game "Spin the Bottle" using silverware and a ketchup bottle to
decide where to head next. But you may wonder whose voice it is
that narrates the commercial. If it sounds familiar, that's because
it's the voice of actor Tom Selleck.

MORE NEWS ABOUT RVing

WIRELESS INTERNET ACCESS ON THE ROAD
Many, if not most avid RVers, stay connected with friends and family
while on the road, and some even use the Net to conduct business.
Yet, even after years of evolution, finding Internet access can still be
difficult for travelers. One promising solution is a high-speed wireless
technology known as Wi-Fi, where anyone with a laptop and a $100
accessory can surf the Web or access email at high speeds. Many
Starbucks cafes now offer Wi-Fi, and there are countless other places
where you can log on for free or nearly free. Read a New York Times
story
about this promising new technology.

ABUSING WAL-MARTS 'FREE STAY' POLICY
Many RVers occasionally overnight in a Wal-Mart parking lot.
Most Wal-Marts permit such a stay. Sadly, an increasing
number of RVers are abusing this "free stay" policy by staying
days or even weeks on end. Read what the editor of this newsletter
thinks
about these people and why they are ruining a good deal for
others.
