By Chuck Woodbury Unless something unexpected comes up, I'll head off in my motorhome next Wednesday or Thursday. I'm not sure where I'll go except it will be south. I plan a roamin' kinda trip -- no plan, just going where it feels right. Really, all I care about is getting away and "getting lost."
When I'm stuck at home for months at a time, I start feeling like I'm growing moss. I get antsy. I feel stressed. I daydream of being somewhere else. Most of the time, I don't even care where: just somewhere away from the routine of my regular life. Right now, knowing I will leave in only a few days, I feel like an engine revved up in neutral. When I switch into gear I'll race outta Dodge like a greyhound from the gate.
I'm traveling alone this trip -- although I'll bring along Lucy, my late-father's dog who now lives with my sister. It will be my first time traveling with a dog. I'm curious if I will like it; perhaps it will help tone down some of the loneliness that always accompanies a trip without a human partner.
Lucy barely qualifies as a dog. She's a pint-sized Pomeranian with a full-body haircut that makes her look like a over-sized Beanie Baby. She's an affectionate little lady, who was always eager to head off with my folks' in their motorhome, and she'll be thrilled to head off with me in mine.
So next week at this time I'll let you know where I am and what happened along the way. For now, enjoy this newsletter, and tell a friend about it, too, 'cause the more readers the merrier!

Should boondocking in desert washes be allowed?
Setting up your boondocking campsite in a desert wash is considered by many RVers to be foolhardy and should be avoided. So is there a time and place where it's okay to camp in a wash?

Dealing with a motorhome tire blowout
A blown tire while driving your car can be a frightening experience. But contemplating such an experience if behind the wheel of an RV can give even the most experienced RVer cold chills. It's a matter of understanding and applying some simple rules. Read more.
