Dear Readers,
Welcome to the fifth issue of the RV Traveler Newsletter, already
read by more than 2,000 RVers and growing faster than
asparagus. I'm writing to you from my home office in Edmonds,
Wash., just north of Seattle, where the rain has been pouring down
recently as it often does this time of year. But, outside, my
trusty motorhome awaits my order to go. When the persistent rain
and short days get to be too much, and I start climbing the
walls from lack of sun, I'll pack up my laptop computer and hit
the road south for fun, sunshine and adventure. That's the way
it is with an RV. When you get tired of one place, all you need do
is buy some gasoline to power up your rolling, mobile house, and
then hit the road to where you want to go. In my case, that means
a place where the native wildlife is more likely to be a lizard
than a banana slug and the native vegetation a cactus rather
than a drippy fern.
Still, like I always say, "It never rains in cyberspace," which
is where I spend a lot of my time these days, and where you
are reading this issue of the "World's Best RV E-Newsletter."
Onward. . .

RV JOKE
Few people know that the late Mr. Folgers, founder of Folgers Coffee,
was a veteran skydiver and RVer. Near his Alabama hometown, it was
common to find Mr. Folgers at the airport in his Avion Fifth Wheel,
relaxing and visiting with his many friends as he waited for his
next jump. One fateful day, however, something went terribly
wrong, and his parachute failed to open. His friends and employees
were horrified, to stay the least, at the demise of this very kind
and gentle man. And so when it came to preparing his epitaph,
they had no problem finding the words: "Mr. Folgers, good to
the last drop." (from http://www.RVjokes.com)
RV RECALLS
Monaco, Jayco and Winnebago have announced recalls on some
of their trailers, fifth wheels and motorhomes. Many units are

PLAN ALASKA FERRY TRIPS NOW
If you're thinking about traveling next year on the Alaska Marine
Highway (the state ferry system), now's the time to make
reservations. Summer bookings for cabin and vehicle space
can be particularly hard to come by. The ferries travel various
areas. One route links Bellingham, Wash., and Prince Rupert, British
Columbia, with Juneau, Haines, Skagway and other destinations.
The Gulf of Alaska is another system, linking Valdez, Whittier, the
Kenai Peninsula and Kodiak. For more information, including
schedules and prices, contact the Alaska Marine Highway
System (800-642-0066; http://www.alaska.gov/ferry).
