I saw that video too where the guy took his air conditioner off of the top of his RV using the overpass. I think that it could easily happen to the best of us. I saw some similar problems on www.campingbloopers.com. Maybe that video will get posted on here sometime.

400 is a good number. I remember reading the Outwest newsletters. AND not only newspapers but print shops ran those linotypes: big, ugly, iron monstrosities with clunky, typewriter-style keyboards that molded hot lead into letters and numbers.
I worked part-time for my father-in-law and he was still running a linotype in the mid 90s.
I'll be waiting for the 500th issue. Keep up the good work.

Why don't you write the National Park Service and tell them about your thoughts?
THEY are the ones who need to hear from you, not us.
As far as the concessioners go, they provide a service for all those rich people who have to stay in hotels or cabins and can't enjoy the freedom us poor people do.
Any info that the Parks Service can get out is OK with me.

This superfluous and redundant NPS website is another good example of "your tax dollars at work"; I suspect that the NPS got a bit of grant money that had to be spent quickly and some low-level drone came up with this turkey to ride the wave of the popularity of the "National Parks" TV series.

The site is poorly designed, with an amateur and boring interface. There's nothing new on the site; any information on this site can be found on an individual national park's website. IMO, the most obvious difference between this site and the websites of individual national parks is the blatant and targeted pitch for the commercial enterprises/concessioners within the parks; at least the links to concessioners' "services" on the websites for individual national parks are more subtle! And, "thematic links"? More commercial huckstering.

I suggest ignoring this sloppy, "bush" offering; if one wants information on national parks, go to www.nps.gov and link from there. Everything one needs to know about the operation of the parks' system and individual parks is available on and (linked) from the main NPS website.

I believe the in motion" refers to when extending or retracting the slideout, not when the vehicle is traveling down the road.

It is possible to exceed its sliding weight capacity.

Is this a real problem or what?
Seeing that it's been stated then somewhere, someone must have gone for a ride on their slide.
Hopefully it was because of a problem and not a fun ride.

After all the years on the road, very little surprises me anymore with people and what they do with their RVs.

Enjoyed the video of the AC being removed from the 5er and the driver never stopped.
I have seen this happen before where a 5er took everything off the roof. It was in Canada where heights are marked in meters and this guy from Texas didn't know to check. It was along a river going into Lethbridge.
SO check your trailer height and convert it to meters so you know what you're going to hit.
This is kind of eerie, but just yesterday the motel in front of the RV park we're at, had someone in a big motorhome try to go under their 11-foot front canopy. Lots of damage. 11-foot: guy must be blind or a novice.

Yes there are reasons that the parks have signs telling folks NOT to leave food out and to store it in bear-proof lockers. The bears get used to eating in the camping areas and equate campers with food. This teaches them to lose their fear of people in addition to teaching them that vehicles and RVs are easy places to get food. Soon they start breaking into the vehicles to get the food they smell or see. By that time there are only two things the park authorities can do: relocate the bears away from the campground by a long distance and when that fails, destroy the bear. The bear pays the price for the laziness and stupidity of the campers who leave food out.
