Anyone heard of the Carpenters, Henry Mancini, or Count Basie? How about 1812 Overture? Some Beethoven and Les Brown? The Marine Corps (or other branch) Band? And I agree Hooked on Classics is entertaining. _________________ Ken

I've "heard" of them all, but when you say "Carpenters," now you are calling me OLD! The Carpenters were popular when I was in middle school.
One time a few years ago, I had hired a lady to make a quilt for me, but she told me she couldn't start on it until "next week after the Rod Stewart concert." Well, this lady had beautiful silver hair! My issue with her comment was "When did fans of Rod Stewart start having grey hair?" Boy, was that a "wakeup call" (as to how old I am!)

I can't wait until you admit to listening to Fats Domino, Bobby V, Everly Brothers, etc. Hehehe _________________ Pat & Helen

If it was written after 1965, it ain't music: it's just a bunch of noise. LOL
That ought to start a war. |

And if it was written before 1960, it was about some lovesick cowboy singing about his dead cow or horse. _________________ Pat & Helen

Actually, I do like the Everly Brothers. And, some years later, Jan and Dean? They kind of copycatted the Beach Boys. And who did the "Little GTO" song? I forgot!

I "lost it" in the 80s. I used to think I would always be "hip" to the new music. I lost track in the 80s some time after George Michael (and I never did like him, either).
And ya know, when I was in high school, I never knew what the words to the Led Zeppelin songs were. All I heard was the music, and I knew they sang words, but I had no clue what they were. Now I can understand the actual words! What changed? I doubt my hearing improved.

| I'm not sure exactly of the words as I tend to focus on the melody, instruments, and of course, the music combined they create, but I have always found "Amarillo by Morning" by George Strait as enchanting, and picturing myself driving across Texas on a beautiful afternoon. |

An armadillo this morning,
A deer in San Antone.
Every critter that I've hit,
I've had my headlights on.
When the moon is high in that Texas sky,
The varmints just don't seem to care.
An armadillo this morning,
Last night I hit a bear.
I killed a puppy in Houston
And a cat in Santa Fe.
I mauled a snake and a possum
Somewhere along the way.
If a cow roams late here on highway 8,
It better hope that curve ain't blind.
An armadillo this morning,
Last year I plastered nine.
Armadillos take warning,
and you deer in San Antone.
Don't jump out at my pick-up,
No animal has won!
Stoppin' on a dime with this truck of mine
Is not my ability.
Armadillos take warning,
Or road kill you will be. _________________ www.sheavanwinkle.pieraidrecords.com |

| Heyyou, thanks for the words! Guess it's not quite the song I thought, but like I said, I don't pay much attention to the words, just the music I hear! Still love the melody though. Thanks again. |

Music is like chocolate. There are 1,000s of different types and a taste for everyone.
If you like it, you love it. If you don't, you hate it and wonder why someone even bothered to make it.
Just be glad there is music. It would be an empty world without it. |

We did a survey at RVtravel.com a couple of years ago about what type of music RVers listen to when they listen to the radio. Thirty percent opted for country, 28 percent for soft rock/oldies. No other type of music even came close. The survey is at http://www.rvtravel.com/rvtravel/rvres.aspx?id=158 _________________ Get the latest RV news headlines on Twitter.

| Personally, I enjoy all types of music. My husband and I both enjoy some C&W, oldies tunes; classic rock. My husband is an old heavy metal head but doesn't play it in our RV. Mostly we listen to oldies. It's nice to have a variation sometimes. And when we do listen to some country music, it's usually the older C&W music of Garth, Reba, Sawyer Brown, George Strait, Alan Jackson...the likes of them. |
