Question on Weigh Stations |
|
|
My husband and I are new to this site. We have been traveling around the country for a few months and we have a question that hopefully someone can answer. Are RVs required to pull into weigh stations when open along the interstates? Thanks. _________________ Traveling the states in a 2500HD diesel Chevy pulling a Glendale Titanium 5th wheel.

No. At least not in the states we've been to, and that includes PA. |

No. Not in California, Oregon, and Washington. Although there are always exceptions.

| We have driven our 37' diesel pusher all over the US, almost every state, and have never stopped at a weigh station, and don't see others stopping. |

Never had to stop at any weigh station. Probably a good thing we don't have to as most would probably be fined for being overweight as the article in this week's RV Travel states. _________________ Rick & Gail

I understand only commercial vehicles are supposed to pull over at weigh stations. Kind of makes you wonder if RVers doing business on the road/rallies should be pulling over.
I've pulled over to some closed weigh stations and weighed the rig as some of the places leave the scales/readouts on. Jockeying back and forth, you can weigh each side and front and back, getting a good idea of how overweight you are.... |

As far as I know, in many states it is not necessary such as California, Oregon and Pennsylvania, but there are some states where you have to do it. _________________ Luckycat
