Been reading this forum for a short while and thought I would just join in. I really can't call myself an RVer yet because I won't get my RV for a few more weeks. My wife, who has a terminal illness, and I decided a couple of months ago to "get out of the house." She has been confined, more or less, to the house/hospital since early March. There is nothing the doctors can do for her and all the rest I can. So we cashed in (or in the process of) a couple of 401Ks and yesterday we purchased the Coronada (made the deal). I have been searching the internet for almost two months, trying to find something we could afford and that was in good shape. Well I found a deal, right here in town, three miles from where I live. I couldn't believe the price the guy had set on his motorhome. I offered him less and he took it. Can't wait to get on the road. We are retired Navy and have friends that we still see once a year in Texas and Fort Walton Beach. So here we go. Talk about taking a chance! Wow! Are we nuts or what??
Best regards, Don

Well, the day I picked the MH up, we received the bad news that my wife is now spiraling down. We were going to try to make a 5-hour round-trip to my daughter's house but she wasn't able to make it. She seems to be bedridden for now. My brother and I went and filled the tank with gas. WOW. I have the trip on hold for the moment; maybe by the end of the week she will be able to travel. Best regards and thanks for the welcome. don

So sorry to hear your wife had a bad spell. Sad As soon as she's feeling better, make a short trip or take the trip to your daughter's house in stages. You're retired so that means you can take all the time you want! Just go for it so she can enjoy being out of the house! If nothing else go to a local CG or park even if just for the day! DanceBanana Cheering you on!

You're not crazy at all! You 'guys' do and experience anything and everything she feels up to doing. Capture whatever moments you have left whether "on the road" or at home, and know my prayers are with you.

You have my deepest sympathy, Don. Your thoughts were to give her the best you could while she was here and you did.

Please let us know how you're doing. We care.

You have my deep sympathy. It is surprising how quickly our loved ones leave us; long before we are ready to let them go. Take your time with things now. I hope that you will notice her spirit with you in some of the places you visit as you continue in your life. Love and peace, Stacy

So sorry to hear of your loss. I lost my husband in November 2004 to cancer so I empathize. If my house ever sells, I will be buying my rig and hitting the road full-time, knowing my husband will be riding along with me, smiling with every mile. Sending you gentle hugs...

Don,

We are so sorry about your loss. Even when somewhat expected, it is always a shock when it happens. You are in our prayers.

My wife and I lost our only son in April, 2 days before his 24th birthday, so we can sympathize with you on your loss. We find that being in our camper out on the lake to be a lot of comfort and the kind people we meet help us with our grief. So we say to get in your motorhome and meet new people, and you will find yourself meeting some wonderful folks; some will also be missing a lost loved one, but being out in this beautiful land will help ease your pain. Again, our hearts go out to you.
