Wallpaper |

The wallpaper in one room of my travel trailer is literally lifting and curling away from the walls. Can anyone tell me the safest (and easiest) way of removing the paper? Also, is possible to paint the walls or do I have to repaper them? I realize the walls are not sheetrock like a house, but truthfully....I'm a whole lot better at painting than I am wallpapering!!! |

Painting vs Wallpapering |
|
|
| I have done both and painting IS VERY easy compaired to papering. First, however, would be to find if there is a roof leak that is allowing the paper to lose adhesion. I found that I could prep my wallpaper surface first just like in the house and then mask and paint, but be sure to use the low odor type of paint. Good luck. Dan |

| Because most RV walls are just luan board with a vinyl facing over them, I prep them by lightly sanding the surface to break the gloss. Ideally, using a primer like KILZ will give the paint a better surface to adhere to. And finally, a satin or eggshell finish is the easiest to clean up. In order to first remove the wallpaper, try a mixture of warm water and fabric softener. It works great and smells nice too.
Since most RVs do have moisture issues at some point, I'd use a primer like Kilz. It's really stinky so pick a day where you can have everything open. Then, feel free to paint to your heart's desire.
Before and after pictures would be fun to see!! _________________ The Yooper, the Canuck and the Mutt

| Ever think about upholstering your walls. Have done it many times and is wonderful. Helps deaden sound and works as a wonderful insulator. The best thing is there is no prep work. Just go right over your existing walls and looks beautiful and lasts forever. If you would like to know more I would be happy to answer any questions you might have. stemwad12954@yahoo.com Greg. |
