Hi all. I was very thrilled to come upon this site. I am looking into an RV that my parents are thinking of buying and to my surprise, I can’t seem to find any information on a particular model.

My parents are thinking of purchasing a 2007 Georgetown 359 TS. This comes with a 340 hp Workhorse gas pusher. My father is a bit reluctant on the Georgetown with this particular engine due to some rumors about the engine overheating, especially since he is thinking of pulling a Durango with it. I thought before he passes up the sale, I would do some investigating for him. Is the engine overheating a rumor or does this actually happen?

I am wondering if anyone either knows of someone or owns one themselves, and their experience with this particular model. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Also the sale price is $89,900.00 Canadian, so roughly these days $80,000.00 US. Is that an OK deal? The RV is new, not used.

Once again, thanks in advance for all of your help. Hoping to hear from you soon.

Georgetown? That's a FOREST RIVER Class A product. I drive a Forest River Class C and am on my second FR Class C, and I am sold on Forest River. However, if you have heard of engine issues, hopefully someone can fill you in.

I would recommend that you do a search on "Workhorse UFO." That is the chassis the Georgetown is on, IIRC - and it has reportedly been problematic. My understanding it that several manufacturers (Monaco, for one) are dropping it.

Probably somewhere in NA - or maybe on another continent.

There have been some rear engine fires but cannot tell you any figures on that particular model.

There is a lot of info here http://irv2.infopop.cc/6/ubb.x?a=frm&s=8076099152&f=8626012545 on the Workhorse chassis.
I have not seen reports of overheating on the 8.1 engine in either pullers or in the UFO configuration.

The old 454 engine which was the predecessor to the 8.1 did have a reputation for running hot.

You might try asking your questions at the Workhorse site above.
