Screws Came Out of Wall: How to Be Able to Rescrew Vent In? |
|
|
| I just noticed two screws came out of the vent above the cooktop in our travel trailer. The problem is when you try to rescrew them in, they keep coming out. This happened before with the shades. The shade holder came out and now I do not have enough tension for them to stay up. I used Crazy Glue to stick the screw in, but I do not know what to do for the vent. These walls are so thin, I am afraid more things will start falling out. It is a 2007 Funfinder RV. Any help would be great. |

I will offer two suggestions:
One is get the expanders you tap into the way, and screw the screws into to expand in the wall and hold them in place.
Second, you can stick toothpicks covered in wood glue (Elmer's will do just fine) and once you have put a few in there and let them dry, then you screw back in and it should hold just fine.
Good luck. _________________ Lee and Fran

Those thin ceilings and walls can be pretty tricky.
I have used short molly screws which have a slotted tube that collapses behind the panel when a screw is tightened while the molly is held by a little tool. The screw is then removed and the molly provides a threaded hole for the screw. If you can get the right size, they will hold really well. _________________ Full timing in a 2004 Winnebago Sightseer 35N, Workhorse chassis.

I agree with Clay: use molly screws. When we bought our RoadMaster, it had several curtain and blinds brackets that had stripped out screws. I just put molly screws in and they've worked fine. _________________ Pat & Helen

The toothpick trick that Utahmtman said works great in a pinch if you don't have molly screws. I did that on my last RV. I had screws come out.
