Holiday Decorating |
|
|
| We are spending our first holiday in our RV and I was wondering if anyone decorates for the holidays? Specifically, how do you hang a holiday wreath on the door? Regular over the door wreath hooks don't fit RV doors, so I need another suggestion please. Also any holiday decor tips you have are much appreciated. Thanks! |

Fishin' line comes to mind. I use lots of the 3m hooks too...... easy up, easy down.....Bonnie _________________ Snowbirds--99 Dodge Ram Cummins, 2000Sportsman31ft fifthwheel, and Molly the wonder dog!! |

We carry a small Christmas tree with decorations and lights on it. We display that on the front dash.
Other than that we don't do anything.
Some people do go crazy with decorations just like some folks in stick houses though. _________________ Full timing in a 2004 Winnebago Sightseer 35N, Workhorse chassis.

We also use fishing line but we use very lightweight wreaths on the upper awning support bars, and have red and green awning lights. There is a small tree we put out on the dash (Class A motorhome). Hope that this helps. _________________ 1987 Itasca 32RQ Sunflyer

We have a single string of "chili" lights and a very small Christmas tree. Other than that we don't do anything else. It's too small inside to really do much and we don't have the weight capacity or storage to carry decorations. The season is never in the trappings or appearance. _________________ Mike, Nancy and the Fuzzies

Hi,
A wreath hanging out on the front is a good one.
Also used by truckers around Christmas time. _________________ 1988 Jayco 24.5 , 5er

Thanks everyone! I never thought of using those 3M thingies outside on the door, but it sounds like a good idea. I'll give it a try. We have decided to hang a fresh wreath so there's nothing to store. We can actually fit a 7-foot tree in here but are opting for a 5 foot one. Haven't decided if we'll go fresh or artificial yet. We have lots of storage space because we didn't keep anything but necessities when we moved in, so we have options. I think we'll go with the tree, a wreath, and some lights on the awning. That'll be enough to make it nice and festive around here.
Thanks for all the ideas everyone! : ) |

I want to mount some plastic reindeer to the bumper, wiring red lights to the noses that are operated off the tailights...festive yet functional!
I'll let you know if I can get it to work. _________________ www.sheavanwinkle.pieraidrecords.com |

We string some coloured lights (LEDs) in the trees, bows on our campsite post, a small 24" fibre-optic tree on the dash of MH. Satellite tripod will also be decorated with coloured exterior ribbon. We know of one person who has made a skirt for the tripod to make a Santa Claus. Lots of fun celebrating holidays on the road. As campground hosts, we like to set an example by demonstrating what can be done with very little. |

| We put our lights across the front from mirror to mirror and through the wipers. We then gather the plugs together, which makes a triangle, and run the extension cord under the front end to the plug which is close to the ground anyhow. |

Christmas Decorations |
|
|
I have spent several holidays in our MH and have always decorated, not only for Christmas but other seasons/holidays also. Right now there's a grapevine-type wreath [$store] on the front with little American flags for election day and Veteran's Day. I have a 'Harvest Blessing' sign to go up next. Santa hats on the mirrors and lighted garland from mirror to mirror draped up over the wipers come next. Inside, lights and garland over the slide frame and an Adirondack-type tree on the dash or wheel table. A couple holiday dish towels and napkins help. I use all the $store items I can find so storage is not crucial. This year we are in the Pacific NW [grey and rainy] so I need all the lights and tinsel I can get. Have fun. We have Christmas'd in Disney World for the past six or so years. We have about 20 inflatables that cover the site, several light strings and some smaller Santas that sit on a card table in front of our screen room. We have a 6.5-foot tree that sits inside the front wall of the screen room and so many assorted wreaths and other decorations that I don't know where we carry all the stuff. It takes 2-3 days to set up, but only a part of a day to take down. _________________ Ken

Something I Really Miss |

One thing I gotta confess I don't like about living in an RV is the lack of trick or treaters on Halloween.
I suppose I could check into a park for the night, but even then I bet I'd have few goblins. _________________ working fulltimer, 21 ft 1977 Jamboree.

Festive RV |
|
|
I'm a bit late chiming in. Yes, I decorate the RV. I am a FTer and spend the holidays near family (and my small storage unit). I keep a few Christmas decorations there so I don't have to lug them around the country with me.
I have a prelit garland on the dash and a string of lighted snowflakes hanging on the interior of the windshield from little suction hooks. I have a wheel topper on the steering wheel (class A), just the right size for a 2 1/2' battery-lit tree. I have the same size tree outside by the entance door. My mom had made me one of those ceramic lighted trees years ago and I put that on the kitchen table. It's nice to have the festive lights. Makes the RV seem homier than usual.
