Slideout Stuck Out |
|
|
Help! Our 2003 Cedar Creek 23.5 foot has the slide stuck out and won't close. I have lubed, cajoled, sworn and tried everything I can think of but it will not move. I have crawled under and applied power directly. I have removed the motor and it turns fine, and the gears move freely and do not appear broken or chipped. I cannot find a manual slider on this unit! Any thoughts? _________________ Bill & Carol Tennant |

Slideout Stuck |

3rebels- check around the perimeter of the slideout for anything binding. Pull back the seals and see if anything looks out of place. I have seen more than once the floor wood boards separate and the slide goes out OK, but when it is out all the way, the floor separates and butts up against the coach frame, and stops the slideout from going in. Look in the floor area first under the slideout. There will be a seal and pull it back, and with a strong light, look under the slide as much as you can. Always use caution when doing this. Also check the slideout linkage for any binding or broken parts. |

Thanks. Never thought of the floor or some other piece sticking. Looked at all the linkage and doesn't appear to be any broken or misaligned parts. Will let you know the results. Again, thanks! _________________ Bill & Carol Tennant |

Checked all the seals top, side, bottom and can see nothing out of the ordinary, nothing appears to be stuck or impeding the way. Still the motor just hammers away going in or out without any gears a whirring. Maybe I will try and see if the gear tube is frozen/stuck in place. _________________ Bill & Carol Tennant |

Have you checked the shear pins? _________________ Mac |

| Check the end of the drive rod, either right or left. A lot of times there is a "nut" type end to put a socket and ratchet on, and then you can work it back in. |

| FIRST - Get out your manual. Our slide would not go OUT. Pulled the manual and found a couple of items which MUST be in place before the slides would move. One, the driver's seat MUST be in forward most position, etc. Read the manual. If still no action, now is the time to call your mobile RV person. Good Luck. EJa |

I assume the drive motor is trying to run. If not check fuses. Also make sure the "slide enable" switch is on. If the drive is hydraulic, check fluid level in the power pack. There may be a problem in the drive gearbox. There should be some way to manually operate the slide. Check manual.
Good Luck

| Is your battery fully charged? When our coach batteries went out on us, our slideout wouldn't come in? Three of us pushed on the slide while the 4th person pushed the switch for the slide. No problem after the batteries were replaced. We have a motorhome, but I assume the slides on the 5th wheel operate similarly. |

Master and Hidden Slideout Power Switches |
|
|
This may sound like a "duh", but do you have a switch that shuts off the motor for the slide? I do but didn't know it at the time. There are 2 master slideout switches inside my 5er. One's for the living room slide and the other is for the bedroom. But there is also another one in the cargo area (who woulda thunk?). I didn't realize it and thought it was just a plain old light switch. 3 months later, we finally got the slide to operate again because we found that switch had been turned off.
Hope it's as simple as that for you... _________________ Pam

Motor Running? |
|
|
| Answer the question. Is the motor running and nothing happening? I just had that. Bad habit of running the jacks up tight. Have learned now to leave them down an inch or so, and stop the motor just slightly before they bind. You've broken a shear pin. Drop the motor which will entail cutting the tie wraps for all the cable holds. Change the "spring pin" or "rolled pin." Good luck. |

Slide Stuck |
|
|
| We had a shear pin break on our slide and physically pushed the slide in on the side of the broken pin. Then took it in and had the pin replaced. If it cannot be physically pushed in by a few strong guys, I would call the manufacturer. You are probably not the first person to experience this and they should have some idea how to help. Our manufacturer, Nuwa, is very helpful with any problems. |

Manual Crank |
|
|
There just has to be a crank and "hole" for turning that screw manually. I find it impossible to think that isn't the case. Look for a hole on the side of the camper with a rubber grommet in it. You should have a crank in the service bay or basement or garage. Everyone is going to suffer a broken roll pin eventually on these things. Good thing to put on your list of things to "figure out" before you have to exercise the plan. In my first post, I was referring to the roll pin for the rear jacks that are electric. Same thing applies for the slideouts. Evidently this is a non-issue now as he's not responded for a couple months. Tight hitches and smooth roads. _________________ 08 Dodge 3500 LB. 08, 34 ft Grand Junction 5er |

Sorry I haven't replied to all of you! We just got back on Sunday from a holiday in the car! Slide is still out, tried pushing, can't see a hole for a crank, have had the shaft off and nothing appears to be broken, and I do believe now it's time to call the mobile tech. Thanks for all your help and reponses! _________________ Bill & Carol Tennant |

Slideout |

Check on the opposite side that the motor is on. You should have a crank in the utility space (garage, basement) that fits the end of the shaft. All of the campers come with a manual means to "crank them in or out in case of failure." Good luck. Hope you have a book for the camper. The info should be in there. _________________ 08 Dodge 3500 LB. 08, 34 ft Grand Junction 5er |
