I am not a RVer yet! I have bought my truck, F350 diesel and am shopping for my fifth wheel. Retiring in May 06. Have been planning this for 15 plus years. I imagine that there will be times when I am looking for a site with all the services, but the biggest reason for becoming a full time RVer is to SEE the sights. Give me the scenic camp grounds 90% of the time! I have been learning a lot from RV Travel and so looking forward to putting my knowledge to use.

Non-scenic with full hookups

All of the Tennessee state parks I have ever stayed in have had hookups, and all have been quite scenic. I imagine most state parks in other states are the same - a good way to have both. Diane L./ TN homegirl

We spend about 5 months every winter in south Texas. We enjoy free boundocking on the beach(Port Lavaca area) for about one month but we like full hookup in the Valley for the coldest months.

I can "make-do" with only electric if I have to, but in South Texas a/c is a MUST. I can go 3 days on a full tank of water then I need to dump and refill. I LIKE a scenic view but I NEED the hookups....especially for an extended stay.

95% of my camping is boondocking scenic, no hookups with peace and quiet. :)

I found scenic parks with electric hookup only, but hot showers and rest rooms available. A happy medium between the two choices. That is the minimum for me. Prefer scenic, but need electricity. And, hot showers and restrooms decrease the trips to the dump station if staying more than a night or two.

We use full hookup when we have the need for them--laundry, extreme hot weather for a/c, maybe enjoy some swimming and such. But we prefer the beauty and quietness of the scenic ones and like to boondock even more. There are pros and cons to both, that is for certain.

We use non-scenic for laundry, cleanup stops and scenic, no hook-ups when traveling or weekend-getaways. both have their good points but never yet found scenic AND full hook-ups at the same place/time.

I pay $140 for 6 months at Imperial Dam AZ/CA each winter time and then return home to Quebec in the summer and pay no rent because I stop at my brothers place. I have only been RVing for 2 years and never been to a campground, looking from the out side they look like sardins in a tin.
