I stay at WalMart also, GREAT. Only problem is that Truckers also use it and usualy park their rig right next to us and run their trucks all nite long . Not only noise polution but the fumes are awful. Common sense should prevail, if you are going to run a generator or your truck all nite park away from other trailers.

Bad experience. We were stuck in a snow storm in northern Mo., and the park we had planned on staying the night was closed. Only WalMart was available. Our battery only ran the furnace for two hours, (Temp about 5 degrees). Bought a new battery. It lasted two more hours. Bought another one at 3 AM. It ran down by 5 AM. Guess we have a lot to learn about dry camping.

Convience ! Walmarts are usually close to a interstate route, are well lighted & in some cases have roaming security at night. I have had some great experiences overnighting at Walmart. I simply got tired of trying to find some out of the way dump of a camp ground & then be confronted by a less than friendly campground owner or employee. When traveling I am one of those that plans out the trip, which usually means a long drive between points of interest so arriving late at Walmart is great. Shopping is great because at night there are fewer people shopping. We usually plan on 1-3 nights at Walmart &them a camp ground one night. We have been rving for nearly 40 years & at 61 I believe I have seen it all & some maybe twice! Now the homeless squatters that have taken to Walmart parking lots are out of control. This last summer I even saw a guy running a rope between a light pole & his class C to hang laundry on. Later the same guy was seen sitting under his open awning with a full gallon of Jack Daniels sipping away while BBQing his STEAK! Yes, folks like this just dont get it & may ruin a good deal. But we have met many fine folks in Walmarts & I would not change a thing for us it works.

At a $100.00+ a visit to Walmart, I find it to be the most expensive RV park that I stay in, but I would not give them up for the world!!!! Thanks Sam W.

We have stayed a few times at various Walmarts as we cross-country in our Class B. The extra to stocking up in the store is the Redbox video rentals -- $1 for current movie overnight.

We stay there when we need to. We NEVER put out slides or awnings and such, ALWAYS ask permission from the manager and NEVER leave any trash or stuff behind, and of course we always but SOMETHING from the store.

I was a boat hauling tractor Trailer driver from Miami to British Columbia. I had certain Wal-marts I would stop in because the oversize boats would fit in their parking lot, most of them had 24 hour security, and plenty of room for safe parking away from their rotating customers. I would make purchases use their restrooms (to wash-up and shower) The managers were always friendly but firm as to the way the lot was left. I ALWAYS left the parking lot cleaner than it was when I parked. The personal and I got on a first name basis and they would tell me the nightmare experiences from RV and truck drivers alike. In my experience, I found almost all the Wal-marts will welcome you with open arms, as long as the area you use is left in the condition you find it or better. I now travel the US in my Gulf Stream RV and use the Wal-marts when ever I need them, and enjoy seeing "old friends" at the Wal-marts I would frequent as a truck driver. Leave it clean, and you will be welcomed back........
