No pay check for 5 months. My employer was aquired by a foreign company who promptly reduced domestic production and eliminated employees to import finished goods from its plants in China so it could reduce cost and increase profit. GREED GREED GREED! Another reason our country is in the mess it is in today.

I retired at the end of Nov 2008 from the railroad after 36 plus years and our retiremnt is little more than what we were bring home while working.

It was a little lower because I retired from a teaching job. I was then called in to sub for a month and a half for a teacher out sick. I expect it to be a little lower again this year and then stabilize at my retirement income.

Our income is slightly higher because of SS, and Fed retirement so called cost of living adjustments (COLA). Medicare part "B" premiums essentially wiped out the SS COLA increase. Insurance, utilities, and food more than wiped out our other income increases. Bottom line, we live on quite a bit less after all the math is done. Thank GWB for that ......

Ours has been lower each of the last two years because of loss of overtime. Then this spring we went to 4 days a week, and than last week I was laid off. So for me decline of income has been a gradual thing building up over the last 2 1/2 years.

As we are retired and living off Social Security and savings, our income is essentially a matter of how much we want to draw from savings. It seems to be about the same amount each year unless we have a special expense in any year.

My retirement income is slightly higher this year thanks to God and G.W. Bush. Our last S.S. increase is likely to be the last one we will see for the next 4-8 years. Good luck retirees and keep motoring down the road.

After another pay decrease, my husband is making about 1/2 of his income 10 years ago. Wish the cost of living were 1/2 what it was, too! But, he is still employed where many others are not, so we count our blessings and make adjustments! Life is still good!

Yes, income about the same, but this is a 2 part issue, how is the "outgo" for items beyond our control?
