Yes, once, only once! A pickup truck pulling a cattle trailer full of cattle parked next to us. The cattle bawled and mooed all night long....not condusive for sleeping! So now we stay in RV parks.....

We have even stayed in Piggly Wiggly parking lot Sylvester, GA once. This next morning we walked to McDonalds and met family members for breakfast.

This past Oct. we drove from the Adirondack Mts. of NY to Utah and returned on I70. Going and coming we definitely made use of free camping in the parking lots of Flying J Service Areas. We have a Flying J member card and bought gas, some necessities and ate at their wonderful breakfast buffets. The parking areas are well lighted and we felt absolutely safe. They have showers and laundry facilities, propane, etc. This is a great alternative to having to pay up to $35 to stop at an RV park at 7 or 8 p.m. only to sleep and leave by 8 a.m. the next day. b & p

We have had to pull in and sleep at Flying J once in a while; but we try to make up for it by purchasing all gas and food whenever we travel at Flying J stations/restaurants. They are wonderful and we appreciate their kindness.

My wife and I stay often at truck stops. Noise and fumes have not been a problem. We have had worse noise and fumes at rest areas. Did have one problem at a truck stop on PA turnpike. During the night, someone pulles the safety pins on my tow dolly. I checked before leaving, but failed to notice the pins missing. We almost lost our car on the turnpike.

We stayed part of one night at a truck stop. We awoke to an RV full of diesel fuel fumes from the trucks. We drove down the road to another truck stop with room to park out front by the resturant. No further problems.

Noisy yes...but FREE too. Broke down on I-10 once and was towed to a truck stop for night and then towed to repair facility in morning. Noise never kept us from sleeping.

We have but try not to unless we absolutely have to - they tend to be very noisy

I stop at Flying J they have good food and I can park out front not with the big rigs

Flying J truck stops have a separate place for RV parking. Use the RV lane to fuel. Also available: free dump station, propane available. Good experience parking there. BC-Tenn
