About 15 years ago I was doing aviation maintenance at an airport in Evanston, Wyoming. Chevron had a lot of crude oil pumps all around the area sucking oil out of the ground. The federal government was continuously making it more difficult for them to extract the oil for numerous reasons (environmental issues mainly) to where they eventually removed all oil pumps and moved them to Russia. When they left they said "when the US eventually will be paying $4.00 a gallon for gaseoline they will come back and have a dicussion with us". We are getting there.

In the UK we are paying around £5 per Gallon ($8-$10) and my US RV does around 10-12 miles per UK Gallon. A Full tank costs £350($700) .The fuel companies and our Governmentss are making too much money for it ever to go down. The green issue is the biggest swindle ever! used to justify the price hike.

You political types, on both sides, need to take a breath. The government of the U.S. has NOTHING to do with it. Its folks like us who buy "futures" on the market that control it. My retirement plan buys them and I am sure yours does also. Give us a break with the Bush bash crap.

As long as the Bush/Cheney and their back slappers (?)are in office gasoline, food and most other goods will continue to rise. This is called "Break theBank"!

The price of motor fuel will not drop as long as speculators hold the price of crude at $105 a barrel. Consumption is down, so that should dictate a drop in price (see supply & demand) but the supply side is controlled by speculators who have bought up reservers and are holding the prices high. More refinery capacity would also help since refineries fall behind when changing from winter to summer fuels (ie) heating to diesel.

If you think it is expensive now. Just wait, if either of the dems get in you will be pauing more. Remember, you pay for things with "net" dollars. They will see that it takes more of the gross to "net the net".

The pricing of a gallon of gas is not as simplistic as several would contend. We are in a global economy and what happens somewhere else will effect us. Our national Politician can effect some change but not to bring down to $2.00. Various things such as what OPEC is doing. Chinese all wanting autos buying large amounts of gas, effecting supply and demand. Venezuela effects the price. The fact we have no new refineries and the fact that have prevented drilling all have an effect on our gas prices.
