I agree with Ken W. We store all of your newsletters by certain catagories for future reference. Since your publication is widely read, it would be an avenue for us to let others know of our experiences with repairs both here in the U.S. and Canada. When we are away from home and in need of an immediate repair, we sometimes need to find local help. One experience we had was in western Colorado. The slide room failed to close and while hand cranking it back in, the internal shaft broke off from the motor. The RV park manager called a local mechanic friend of his who came over, made a temporary fix and we were back on the road within one hour. Good ending!

What we need is a colum in this news letter as to where we as Rvers have had good or bad service. Just a thought

I do most repairs myself, but on the side of a highway with a broken rig I usaly call for help. To date good or bad service is running 50/50. I blew a tire on the I/75 and the service was fantastic and they went out of their way to help and in the same trip I boke a fan belt and needed service again and had a tow truck driver that had no idea what he was doing. i told him he would have to remove the drive shaft before towing my rig.He looked at me like I had 2 heads then after hooking up the rig he said that he could get me to a place for repair 15 miles down the road and I had to argue with him again to put running lights on the back of the rig. He ask me why and I told him I did not want my rig hit. It was 10 PM and dark

For routine maintenance we use a Caterpiller shop in San Diego where we winter. On the road, we try to find a Discovery dealer, Cat or Freightliner shop depending on what we need done. We have had excellent service at Beaudry RV in Tucson and Blaine Jensen RV in Kaysville, UT.

When our Allegro Bus needs repair we take it to Tiffin in Red Bay, they know how to do the repairs correctly and efficiently and have parts available, not all RV repair shops can do that. If the chassis needs work or service we go to Freightliner.

I took our Monaco Windsor to Beaudry Monaco in Tucson, AZ to have some work done while we were camping there. They did the work and the advisor told me that the estimate was "not too bad" as it "only" came in about $100 dollars over his estimate. It took two hours at $110 an hour to repair our stool. I paid it and figured that the tech did not want to start another project on Friday afternoon so he took his own sweet time repairing and re-installing the stool. I am not sure that I will go back there again.

JUST ASK AROUND the park There is almost always a repair pearson in the larger RV parks who will do good repairs at a reasonable price. Most times about 5o% less than your local repair shop.

Most of the time we have not hade a choice. You take it to the nearest place to where you are traveling. We have lucked out twice by finding local person who knew what they were doing to solve our problem. Found both by going to local auto store and asking for recommendation.

After taking our Allegro Bay to Tiffin in Red Bay, and then taking our Diplomat to Monaco in Elkhart, I will always try and take our coach to the Manufacturer for repairs. They have a vested interest in making sure the repairs are always done right, and their costs tend to be lower than any RV dealer or Truck shop!! Of course, these manufacturers are near our normal routes anyway so that helps!!
