We made our first snowbird trip this past winter. It is what we looked forward to after retirement. It was great! However our freedom to travel is getting more remote. When you do the math, average RV gets around 6-7 mpg at a average fuel cost of around $4.00 per gallon. This makes a cost of about .67 cents per mile - just for fuel. I think the average RVer will have to cut back on travel or get out of RVing alltogether. We will. More important the American ecomony is getting into serious trouble due to excessive fuel price increases. What are our leaders doing about high fuel prices? Its not supply and demand anymore but GREED!

We own Port Orford RV Village in Port Orford Oregon. Our March and April were better than the prior 3 years. What we see are people staying longer. We cater to retires and full time RVers. We promote our monthly rate. Summer looks good. We often talk about the price of fuel. People that visit do not seem to give up this lifestyle.

We are heading back to Canada for the summer and will probably travel more. It would seem that a solution to the oil issue would be reached if there was less angry finger-pointing at the president and more information given to the public on what our true options are: more refineries, less strict air controls so more gas can be refined, less investment in corn technology(which everyone who works in the auto industry knows is not giving the gas mileage it promises)more drilling in the US, reopening old fields, ???, etc, etc. Getting angry with someone because they are making a profit seems silly when everyone is making a profit on something to stay in business. Off topic may I recommend the new movie "EXPELLED" which gives a fresh look at the fact that the scientists we have all been mindlessly following may not be all that they seem to be?

The price is to high and the idiots that vote in this country are to blame. If you follow this GLOBAL WARMING crap you will understand. When I see Al Gore and the Hollywood elite move into SMALL Homes and reduce their Carbon footprint I will start worrying. Until then I will live in my 1500 Sq Ft Home and drive as little as possable.

Yes, we will be driving fewer miles due to high gas prices. IMHO, there are several reasons for these exorbitant prices. The value of the dollar has decreased, there is increased demand in the industrializing countries of China and India, and U.S. gas companies are GREEDY, with Bush and Cheney encouraging exceptionally high profit margins.

We are Alaska residents who winter in Quartzsite, Arizona. We will not be heading home this year due to fuel costs. Instead, we will be go north as far as Montana for the summer. The RV life is good!

Remember a while back when the Oil Market crashed and people were jumping off tall buildings? Well, guess what? The "BIG OIL" is back, and they own every one of us. Even if you ride a bicycle, they still own the economy.

Most of the people I know will be cutting down on the distances they will travel. Some are cutting down on the number of trips they take as well.

Today The price of desiel went over the $4.09/gal. The way to help bring the price down is not to buy the stuff.
