After looking for two years at motorhomes we decided to buy a used one. WE did not want to go in debt and could pay cash if we bought a used one. With basically a total facelift, floating floors, new carpet (front and back), captains chairs, wallpaper, etc....... lots of mechanical repairs, we still have only spent $25,000 on our 1985 Executive, and now she gleams like a new one. And not one of the new motorhomes had solid oak cabinets and two sheets of 3/4 inch plywood on the floors. She is solid as a rock, obviously built very well. TB

I AM SURPRISED AT HOW MANY SAY THEY COULD PAY IT OFF BUT USE AS A TAX DEDUCTION. SO YOU SPEND $1.00 TO SAVE MAYBE $.35 TO AT MOST $.45 PER?

Our Class A was paid for in cash. Not only did we save a lot, but no interest for years, meant it was put in our pockets. When they told us what payments would be, we just paid cash. Then, made those payments to our savings, including what would have been the interest. We still have a 1984 Allegro in our opinion in a lot of ways it is better than a new one. Maintaining it costs a _lot_ less than payments. We have received full value, and much more. Saved tens of thousands by living it it full time.

If 50% of rvs are owned outright, Why all these rvers complaining about the price of fuel>

the question should be how much do you owe on your rv - and what is the actual value

I agree depreciating assets should never be financed, but sometimes that is the only option. I live in a home 6 months and travel 6 months and it is worth every bit of the payments. In other words, I am spending my childrens inheritance.

Depreciating assets should never be financed if possible.

I sold my house, so the RV payment is my only deduction on my income tax. When the interest is low I will pay it off.
