We bought a nice RV 6 years ago, 200k. We could trade it at 40% of the cost or sell it for 25%. Trading required 40k added on to an already over priced unit and sell was a 50k hit. At $3.75+ for diesel thats $0.40 a mile to travel. Things are definately not better or even the same.

I retired almost exactly 5 years ago (May 30). If my home was not paid for there is no way that I could make it on S.S. and my moderate savings. Since I like to travel & move about, a great deal of my money goes to paying the high cost of fuel. I never expected retirement to be easy or cheap, but I also never expected our governoring officials to let "Big Oil" run over us as they have. I wish the big travel concerns would begin to lobby our Congress as the Oil Lobbies do. Preach to Congress & not to us... the chorus.

With all our money (and our sons) fighting a war we never should have started it is no wonder the country is in the state it is in. I make the same money, but it dosent go as far.

One word "Pork"! Get all the pork out of each bill that is passed and we will begin to climb out of debt. And just maybe stop taxes from rising. The change should be "Line Item Veto" to keep all of us from paying for re-electing of each member of congress who uses PORK to impress his or her constituents all for a vote.

Almost to retirement, BUT, jobs outsourced, lost it all. Insurance, was suppose to have at a higher rate, gone. Only jobs around here is sevice type minimum wage. Remember they said we would become a service type country, it is here. Along with a one world economy. So having to dig into savings to just hold on to what we have. And they say not to do that. Would only leave Bankruptsy, and we know they changed those laws. Our dreams of RVing in our retirement is slowly diminshing. Hope the next four years are better, but doubt it.

I am not as well off because I am retired. I do not have a pension - just live off of my investments. Investment income has not kept pace with price increases. It amazes me to hear people say that this is caused by one person - that our president has done this single handedly!

When Bush took office with Republicans in charge of the house and senate they went on a spending spree like the world has never seen. They doubled the national debt to bring it to over $9 TRILLION DOLLARS. They actually borrowed $4.5 Trillion dollars most of it from China and Japan.

Democrats or Republicans, they are all the same. We need a REVOLUTION. In 1999, we (consumers) paid $80 Billion for oil. This year, it will be a TRILLION $, or about $3000 for every US citizen. Get ready for a big depression that is being orchestrated by the speculators and the Arabs (who have a huge sovereign fund set aside to buy us for 10 cents on the dollar when the big depression hits).
