Too late for us; we committed to a 4000 mile trip before gas went nuts, no way out now.

Last summer we drove from Houston to Alaska & stayed for 3 months. This year we will travel between 2 membership parks in Florida, only 70 miles apart.

Unless fuel prices skyrocket in the downward direction, the RV is parked and may soon be abandoned. The costs of ownership far surpass any good that can come of it now. One big liability at this point.

I never put gas in my motor home last year. I have traveled from IL to CA this spring 5100 miles $2200 for fuel. I need to convert this to run on water.

We live in Iowa, need I say more! Actually, we figured up all the costs of our only trip and it came to 3 meals in a restaurant. The message is to go camping and eat at home!

We plan to make the same number of trips but to closer destinations and will spend more time parked and less time driving. We will never give up our RV no matter what the fuel cost.

We are driving less miles this year, but it has nothing to do with the gas prices. It has every thing to do with our plans. This year we have already, starting from Buffalo, NY in February, traveled 4400 miles going to the Daytona 500, Vero Beach, Key West, Fort Myers and Lakeland in Florida, then on to Helen, GA to do some prospecting and then on to MS and TN to visit some Civil War sites. Earlier this month we raced our drag car at PINKS ALL OUT in Norwalk, Ohio. Next week we travel back to Norwalk, Ohio for the NHRA Nationals drag racing event. Then we start saving for our 2009 - 39 day trip to Alaska. When the money is gone, the money is gone.

Last year it was >16000 miles to and from Alaska and the northwest. This summer I have one motorhome parked in CO and another in No. AZ and will commute between the two via my toad. Bob Gorden. rgorden822@hotmail.com
