Actor Tim Allen no fan of RVing (just the opposite)

14

Actor/comedian Tim Allen is an RVer. But he is definitely not a fan of the lifestyle. After spending a night in his RV recently with his youngest daughter, he wrote on Twitter, “I spent the night with my youngest in our RV for fun and after doing my service on it I am reminded why RV people never shake each others’ hands.”

By “doing service on it” Allen meant dumping the holding tanks.

In 2017, in an appearance on the TV show “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” Allen talked about RVing and how he had bought and customized an RV for his wife. “My wife decided that for one of her birthdays, the big one, one of the big ones, that she says ‘I want to go and take a trip in a sewage truck . . . or you call them RVs.’ ”

Allen went on say that traveling with the RV was “basically taking care of your family’s sewer,” where “there’s pipes that touch excrement.” Summing up the RVing experience he told Kimmel, “You go places you don’t want to go. Then, you park and level it and you cook eggs.”

Don’t expect to see Allen appearing in any “Go RVing” commercials anytime soon.

Love the guy. True partiot. The rest Hollywierd should take note, but then when did the “smarter than you crowd” ever listen.

Psssst. Can you keep a secret? He’s a comedian. He has made a great career out of using sarcasm. If he reads some of these comments, he’ll have even more jokes.

I think he missed the “nature and open spaces part”. Yes, dumping is the least favorable thing, but you don’t have to do it every 5 minutes, if judicious you can go week without dumping tanks. I get his disdain, he does not know much about it, if that is all he did/saw.

Aren’t comedians supposed to be funny though?

‘I want to go and take a trip in a sewage truck..” is quite a simplistic statement. It reminds me of the person who said “cows should not be killed, people should go to the grocery store and buy meat there instead of killing cows”. You just aren’t seeing the whole picture.

I like Tim but I don’t want him as a neighbor in the campground. This is also one of the reasons I think there will be thousands of slightly used RVs for sale this spring, especially after paying insurance and payments all winter on something that sat in storage for 5 months. Some people are not cut out to be campers, for some the work involved is to much to live with. For some it’s much better to take the elevator down to the ground floor and out to the beach while the maid cleans the room, and when you calculate the cost of those 20 year payments you’re making on a $120,000 RV it probably equals out.

Bob, your comment “Some people are not cut out to be campers” says it all. All you have to do is watch a few episodes of “Go RV’ing” and see what absolute newbies think is important. You just know some of those new R V’s are going to spend most of their lives in storage or the side yard after their first few trips.

Does anyone else think the show’s producers coach those folks to be that stupid?

I think they’re ‘coached’ to be enthusiastic when they climb into them. When I see some of these folks I just think, “Are you kidding?”

I’d be thrilled to have him as a neighbor in a campground. Err err err, more power!
