FMCA getting ready for big Georgia rally

FMCA, previously referred to as the Family Motor Coach Association, will make its 11th visit to the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter in Perry, Georgia, March 13 through 16 for its 99th International Convention and RV Expo. The group held its first international gathering there in 1996.

FMCA invites all RV owners, whether motorized or towable, to join the festivities. Those considering the RV lifestyle or are just curious are also welcome.

Previous FMCA rally

During an FMCA convention, RV owners stay at the host facility in their RVs. One key element of each event is an RV Expo where RV manufacturers and dealers bring hundreds of the latest models for tours.

RV-related accessories, components, services and other products will fill the Miller-Murphy-Howard Building and Heritage Hall.

Expo hours will be Wednesday, March 13, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday, March 14 through 16, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Attendees can take part in about 100 seminars covering topics ranging from RV driving/towing and RV maintenance to microwave-convection cooking and technology for travelers.

A highlight of every rally is the vendor area, where RV products galore are displayed or sold.

Daytime and evening entertainment is offered as well as opportunities for socializing. They range from activities such as morning coffee, an ice cream social, afternoon happy hours in the RV parking areas and impromptu meet-ups.

Attendees are invited to stay on the premises in their RVs. Those without one may purchase a day pass for the RV Expo only, or upgrade to a “Passport” to attend all activities (with no RV parking).

Registrations will be accepted online at FMCA.com and by telephone at (513) 474-3622 or (800) 543-3622 until March 6. After that, RV owners can simply pay upon arrival. Day passes, which provide admittance only to the RV Expo, must be purchased on-site. The day pass for Wednesday, March 13, will also will be good the next day.

If they are successful in attracting non-motorcoach owners to the fold, do you think they will change their name? I would feel funny going to the “Family Motor Coach Association” rally with my travel trailer and tow vehicle . . . Just sayin’.
