ALABAMA TAILGATING JUST GOT TOUGHER
Due to construction and new restrictions, tailgating at Auburn games requires more planning, especially for RVers who used to arrive on Thursdays before the game to grab a spot. An alternative is the Tailgate Guys service that provides a reserve RV space. Get a season-long pass for $1,200 to $2,100 for a guaranteed spot.

ARIZONA STATE PARK’S MUSIC ON THE MOUNTAIN
Townies turn out to welcome campers at Catalina State Park with original songs mixed with covers lifted from a townie jukebox, creating a  mix of roots, punk, reggae, grunge and Americana. The program is November 2 starting at 4 p.m. Located at the base of the Santa Catalina Mountains, the park has 120 RV sites with water and electric, desert plants and wildlife, nearly 5,000 saguaros, equestrian trails and 5,500 acres of foothills, canyons and streams. It’s all just minutes from metro Tucson.

CALIFORNIA CAMPGROUND PROMISES COMPLIANCE
After coming under fire from neighbors and the city council for former concerns, new owners of  Soledad Canyon RV & Camping Resort, a Thousand Trails RV resort in Acton, have promised to turn over a new leaf. Lighting will be improved to be dark skies compliant, the laundry will be redone to reduce pollution and length-of-stay rules will be enforced.

FLORIDA PARK HAS CRITTER TRAIL RUN
Run, walk or stroll the marked nature trails at historic Silver Springs State Park through the woods to the finish line. The Critter Trail Run is a fundraiser for the park. They’ll give out T-shirts, winner awards,  door prizes, gift bags and snacks. Dogs on leash welcome. Start at 9:30 a.m. on November 16. Tickets are $25 for runners and $20 for “virtual” runners. A $2.50 sign-up fee is additional and prices go up after November 1. Tickets are limited. Special pricing for children 6 – 12 years of age. Once a theme park and now a state park that still has the famous glass-bottom boats, the park has 52 RV sites with electric and water.

GEORGIA PARK HAS EVENTS AND MUCH MORE
The Pups and Food Trucks Festival on November 3 at Skidaway Island State Park near Savannah is just the start of a camping experience filled with sunsets, waterfowl, ocean breezes and a brisk schedule of events. The picture-book campground nestles under wind-sculpted live oak trees along the Intracoastal Waterway. Hike trails through the maritime forest and see deer, egrets and a world of wildlife. Bring your leashed dog to the festival if you like.

ILLINOIS STATE PARK OFFERS MONTHLY HIKES
Take a  Woodland Wonders Nature Hike on November 16 at Argyle Lake State Park, Colchester, in northwestern Illinois. The autumn landscape is on display in this guided hiking experience. The park has 86 RV sites with water and electric, 24 with electric only and 18 sites with vehicle access but no hookups. Known for its fishing, the park has a full-service restaurant and a bait shop.

NEW HAMPSHIRE FORKFEST – SAVE THE DATE
It’s not too early to reserve your campsite for the  2020 Porcupine Freedom Fest/Forkfest to be held, June 29 – July 5, 2020. It’s  a gathering of free-thinking libertarian folks in Keene, New Hampshire. Camp in the beautiful White Mountains for fireworks, music, food and nobody knows what else because this is an annual party where “No one is in charge, so everyone is.”

NEW WASHINGTON PARK TO OPEN SOON
An exact date hasn’t been announced but a November opening is expected for the Stargazers RV Park and Resort in Goldendale. The 52-space resort’s office is a spacious lobby where RVers can hang out and have coffee and donuts. The resort will have a “potluck” room with full kitchen and a laundry room with multiple machines (which will be shared by guests at a nearby motel).

Plans call for camping and also access for day visitors.

The Thousand Trails campground in Acton, California, was closed Thursday afternoon, forcing the evacuation of an estimated 240 guests. “There’s no power. Our water is depleted. We can’t give our services to anyone,” RV resort manager Brian Kuchenbecker said. RVtravel.com was unable to reach the park late Friday afternoon to learn if the park had reopened.
