ARIZONA RV RESORT HAS CAR FESTIVAL
The annual VolkStock on November 8 and 9, at Pleasant Harbor RV Resort in Peoria (on Lake Pleasant) is a car show with music, or a music festival with a huge car show. Either way it’s a gathering each year of up to 5,000 faithful fans. Live music plays all day while attendees tour displays of 400 vintage Volkswagens.

ARKANSAS PARK WELCOMES WOMEN BICYCLISTS
Bring your mountain bike and plenty of grit for the challenging, three-day Grit MTB Festival at Kessler Mountain Regional Park in Fayetteville, November 15-17. Dry camping for RVs is in an adjacent parking lot. Tenters can also use walk-in dispersed campsites. Women of all biking skill levels will enjoy mountain bicycle workshops, scenic rides, meals, a gear swap and campfires. It’s essential to sign up in advance at gritfestival.com.


DEATH VALLEY NATIONAL PARK CAMPGROUNDS OPEN
Seasonal campgrounds in this torrid park are reopening with the arrival of cooler weather. So far, ten of the 12 campgrounds are open. Texas Springs and Stovepipe Wells will open when staff can be found. Fees in the park vary from free to $36 nightly at popular Furnace Creek. Senior Pass holders get a discount.

FLORIDA STATE PARK WELCOMES DULCIMER ENTHUSIASTS
Stephen Foster Culture Center State Park is a living history center all year with live-in artists and frequent events centered on Southern culture and history. A weekend Dulcimer Retreat  package for $105 gives mountain dulcimer music enthusiasts workshops, jam sessions and evening concerts featuring such dulcimer experts as Neal Hellman, Stephen Humphries, Bing Futch, Guy George, Laurie Alsobrook, Carol Crocker, Marsha Harris, Gary Sager and David Beede. The park in White Springs in north-central Florida offers full-service RV camping. Dates are November 8-9.

GEORGIA’S NEWEST STATE PARK HAS MUSIC FESTIVAL
The Peach State’s annual Mountain Music Festival on November 2 is a good excuse for discovering the hiking, fishing and boating at this state park on Lake Lanier. Hear live traditional music played on timeless mountain instruments. Food and arts vendors add to the festival scene from noon to 6 p.m. The park as 44 RV sites.

INDIANA STATE PARK HAS FULL MOON HIKE
Hikers will meet at the Campground Gate House on November 10 at 8 p.m. for a one-hour hike under the full moon. The trail is moderate – ideal for first-time hikers. The 15,000-acre state park in southern Indiana has 50-amp and pull-through campsites. It’s known for watersports and hikes on scenic hills. Bring your own firewood and observe periods of fire ban.

NEW SOUTH CAROLINA PARK NOW OPEN
Sun RV Resort’s Carolina Pines RV Resort in Conway opened this month. Attractions include a water park, restaurant,  mini-bowling, mini-golf and arcade games.

OREGON RV PARK WAS ONCE A DRIVE-IN MOVIE
Free PG-13 movies will still be shown to RV campers at the Hi-Way Haven RV Park in Sutherlin. Popcorn is included. The park also has  horseshoes, Frisbee golf, bocce ball, oversized Jenga on an outdoor patio with a fire pit, a pool table, Foosball, and a Pac-Man arcade machine. RVers can also play the Texas Hold’em and black jack tables.

TEXAS HAS NEW 202-SITE LUXURY RV PARK
Jetstream RV Resort at NASA has officially opened in Houston adjacent to the NASA Space Center. Residents will be long-term NASA workers as well as nightly tourists. Amenities include a beer garden, pet park, pool with a large pool deck, fitness center, arcade, laundry and clubhouse with kitchen and meeting space.

Initial approval has been given for a 227-site RV resort in Carson City, Nevada. Stays will be limited to 180 days, then sites must be vacated for 30 days before owners return. Lots will be sold and landscaped by their owners, who may also add a coach house up to 12 x 16 feet in size. Houses may have a wet bar, bathroom, washer and dryer or seating area. Sierra Skies RV Resort is expected to have a clubhouse, tennis courts, swimming pool and nine-hole golf course.

A year-round campground in General Burnside Island State Park in Kentucky will get a half-million dollars in upgrades starting next January. They’ll include 50-amp service for 35 sites, new sewer lines, frost-free water lines and two ADA-compliant RV sites.

There is no RV camping yet at Widewater State Park, Stafford, Virginia, but it’s in the master plan for this beautiful location. Get updates at widewater@der,virginia.gov.

The campground at Beaver Creek State Park near East Liverpool, Ohio, closed for the season and will reopen at a yet-unannounced date with major improvements to trails, infrastructure, hunting areas and mosquito control.

A 178-site RV park is in the works on a former golf course in Nampa, Idaho, where six industrial buildings will provide space for new businesses.

ADDITIONS FROM RVTRAVEL.COM STAFF

The exclusive Red Bay Acres RV Resort has opened in Red Bay, Alabama. The resort features 50 sites with 60-foot concrete pads and patios, full hookups, and high speed internet. Other amenities include a general store, lakefront restaurant, pickleball court, horseshoe pits and more.

Carolina Pines RV resort in Conway, South Carolina, recently held its grand opening, after actually opening in July. There are about 450 campsites (most for RVs) and cottages, a waterpark, clubhouse, restaurants and a private beach club in North Myrtle Beach available by shuttle service. Upon completion in 2020, there will be 841 campsites.

The North-South Lake Campground in the Catskill Forest Preserve, New York, which opened in 1926, has been upgraded with accessibility and sustainability improvements, including new picnic tables and grills, a ramp to the beach, new drinking fountain, outside shower, and much more.

I assume the park with full-moon hikes is Brown County State Park outside of Nashville, Indiana.
