Camping World’s “march for domination” continues with a twist. Today (Oct. 23) the company announced it will snap up Travelcamp RV in a “cheaper by the dozen” move. Picking up all 12 Travelcamp RV locations will mean Camping World gets a much bigger footprint and emphasizes two big-name RV manufacturers, Thor and Forest River.
Cheaper by the dozen—part of the master plan
Marcus Lemonis, Camping World’s mastermind, says it’s all part of the master plan. “We continue to be focused on our goal to increase our dealership count to over 320 locations over the next five years,” Lemonis touted, “through a combination of acquisitions, new store openings and manufacturer exclusive locations.”
The cheaper by the dozen acquisitions will show up in several different states. In Florida: Brooksville, Clermont, Jacksonville, Melbourne, Ocala, Orange Park, and Pinellas Park. Georgia will see a new store in Griffin. Two new CW locations will appear in North Carolina: Greenville and Statesville. And two others, one in Rock Hill, South Carolina, and Lewisville, Texas.

Thank you, Russ and Tina! Geez, what a great pairing of similar entities, CW and Thor. The most criticized and reviled retailer and the similar manufacturer. Yikes!
Twelve more reasons to support local, independent RV dealers and parts retailers!
I was at a TravelCamp in Memphis a few months ago. Sales guys standing around smoking cigarettes like used car salesmen. They should fit right in with Camping World.
I think most of Camping World’s customers and sales come from first time buyers – who have never heard of “rvtravel”. The name makes newbies think it’s the place to go.
Thanks for letting me know so I can stay away from more of Camping World stores.
