Just got back yesterday from a whirlwind trip to Denver CO from here in southern MO. We had reservations at Bull Shoals/White River Stat Park in AR for a week, but as we were packing to go, got a call that my sister was in emergency surgery in Denver. Cancelled our reservation, hit the road, and so much for the first trip of the year.

In Reno, headed to Palm Springs, wife stepped in a hole at the Reno campground, sliced her knee open for 16 stiches inside and 22 outside.  Cancelled our trip and started to head back to Alberta.  She had to ride in the back seat of the truck for most of the trip back as she was unable to bend her knee. Guess who took out the outside stiches?

We mix Fulltime RV travel with other types of travel. In early December, 2021 we went to a resort in Cancun, Mexico at the invitation of a longtime family friend. Hubby slipped on the wet bathroom floor and broke his femur. He did the surgery in Mexico-finances were of minor concern-high limits on our charge cards came in handy, and the trip home was okay thanks to all the airport helpers. Because this was not a trip we planned (our friend was a member and made all the arrangements), we totally neglected to get travel insurance-PLEASE, don’t leave home with out it! Medicare Does Not Pay Outside the USA and Territories!

Our friend graciously let us stay with her for several months until hubby could navigate the steps into our Van. The situation has made us realize we need a plan B and maybe C! We still don’t know what that looks like! We are still recovering, long process, maybe more surgery (hip) in hubby’s future, but for now back to enjoying our Southwest desert, quiet and dark skies-just having to find paved roads to walk on!

16 days out after retirement and starting full-timing I tripped and broke wrist and sprained ankle. In Florida they charged $1200 up front before even looking at! Wrist wrap, ankle wrap and kept going.

When husband diagnosed with cancer right before leaving for extended trip, they assured us treatment could wait until we got to the Mayo Clinic in Arizona so we went and never turned back.

My husband's bowel ruptured (pre-covid), a 1 night stay turned into 6 weeks in Florence, SC. We were headed to Maine. Happy to say he had very good doctors in an awesome hospital and received excellent care.

I ended up in the hospital unexpected to survive.  Passed out soon after arriving, and came to 11 days later, paralyzed from the neck down.  I came home 3 months later.  The Lord chose to heal me, and other than running, I've gotten all my mobility back, all my other health problems are gone, and I only take natural supplements because I'm no longer on any prescriptions.  Moral of the story:  Be careful what you pray for - I had been praying on a couple of issues that bothered me.  Well, some of us are more stubborn than others, and the Lord decided that the best way to reach me was to stop me, and that He did!  Because of this, I'm the only adult in my family who understands totally what my great grandchildren are going thru while learning to acquire dexterity, and learn how to walk and feed themselves.  For that, I'm extremely grateful.
