•This is an informal affair.
•Bring a friend or friends.
Please join us in the Western Village of the Johnson Creek RV Park in Ingram, which is close by Kerrville in the beautiful Texas Hill Country (about a 75-minute drive from San Antonio).
We’ll have coffee and other beverages (no booze) plus snacks, and door prizes on the hour at 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Join editor Chuck Woodbury, who will give a brief presentation about his 30-year life on the road as a roving reporter, starting at 2 p.m.
Chuck will be joined by his partner Gail Meyring and our Pet Vet columnist Deanna Tolliver.
While you’re here, take a walk around the park to see if you can spot the resident Axis Deer (and their fawns), the sunbathing turtles, the shy Armadillo, and the monstrous four-foot catfish that lurks in Johnson Creek. And you won’t want to miss petting tiny Nugget and the other nine miniature horses (bring carrots and you will be their best friend). Come anytime between 1 p.m. and closing time.
Once you arrive at the RV park, drive all the way to the back to Western Town (see photo). There should be plenty of room to park. There’s a quiet country road behind. If it’s a nice day, take a short 20 minute walk (round trip) where you will almost certainly see a herd of four Axis Deer (and we will tell you were to look for the cleverly hidden fawn nearby).
