Have you ever met a celebrity or other well-known public figure on an RV trip?

As RVers, we’re always on the move. One minute we’re in Hollywood, the next we’re in Miami (with stops everywhere in between, of course). It’s not uncommon for RVers to see or meet celebrities. After all, they’re always traveling around and so are we!

Have you ever met a celebrity or other well-known public figure while RVing? If so, after you vote will you please leave a comment and tell us who?

And don’t forget to read Nanci Dixon’s story in today’s newsletter about meeting a certain someone!

Say what?! Fabio in my state? If I ran into him in the grocery store I’d probably forget what I was there for. Just sayin’. Have a great day, Bryan. 😀 –Diane

No, but I ran into Adam West while I was on a self-supported bicycle tour near Arles, France.
I left him alone and didn’t say, “Holy coincidence, Batman, imagine meeting you here!”

For over thirty years my camping and RVing has always been associated with Bluegrass Festivals and in attending many of these fests I’ve always met up with other well-known bluegrass personalities…Bill Monroe comes instantly to mind as an example. I met Bill deep in the Ozarks at a Fest while traveling in my RV back in the mid-90’s just a year before he departed this life. Among Bluegrassers, there are a ton of well known personalities and you will have access to many of them while you are in camp.

I’m not much of a name dropper, but as an L.A.F.D. firefighter/paramedic over nearly four decades, I’ve seen my share. Movie, t.v., sports, politicians, etc. I saw them at their best & worst. Believe it or not, they’re people just like you & me.

P.S. Like someone mentioned before, my entry isn’t while r.v.’ing. My bad.

That’s OK, Rey. Interesting comment about the people you’ve seen as an L.A.F.D. firefighter/paramedic. And thank you for your service for almost four decades! Take care. 😀 –Diane

Hi, Kevin. I’ve read a bunch of C. J. Box’s books. When I’m done reading them, I lend them to my son. We’re big fans of his! Have a good night. 😀 –Diane

We met Tom Berenger at the rv resort we were staying in. He starred in many movies such as Major League and has been on some episodes of The Closer and others. Nice guy.

Answered no. However as a teenager I lived about a 1/2 mile from a small hamlet called Deer Lake Pennsylvania. This is where Muhammad Ali had his training camp. Word would get out that the Champ was in and we would go over to watch him workout or spar, boy did he chop and split wood like a machine. I probably was there about 6-8 times, after his workouts he would sit and talk to us like a Dutch Uncle and serve us ice cream, he was a fantastic man to be around and I still have several items he would sign for us kids.

Got autograph from Peter, Paul and Mary when in college. On two different occasions, at Tampa International airport, saw Art Linkletter and we just nodded to each other in a departure lounge and then saw George Kennedy going up and down an escalator filming an American Express commercial. That was kind of cool to watch. None of those people wanted to go camping with me, as we couldn’t all fit into a 1963 VW Westy camper at the time.

I met Paul Newman when we were both camping in the pits at Laguna Seca racetrack. He told a funny story about something that happened during his filming of the movie Slapshot. He came across as just a regular person instead of a movie star.

Hi, Phil. My mom met Paul Newman in Oregon many, many years ago. She got to take a picture of him, but was so starstruck that she forgot to ask him to remove his sunglasses so that his pretty blue eyes would show. She sure regretted that. But she mentioned what a friendly guy he was. Have a great day. 😀 –Diane

Yes, We met your very own Nanci Dixon and her husband at Orange Grove RV Park in Bakersfield, CA in April 2021. The best RV neighbors ever.

Not RVing. But had met Queen Elizabeth, Princess Diana, President George and Barbara Bush and had lunch with them. Lee Majors and Farrah Fawcett, Princess Grace Kelly and Caroline, Jay Leno. Several Governors, Senators and Congressmen and women to name a few from my youth through my military career and state service. But not any RV traveling.

WE met Jim Ed Brown when he and his wife were doing TV shows “Going My Way” on RV gatherings like Good Sam State Samboree. I was the Oregon State Director at that time. The crew took shots of what was happening with the RV’ers. This was a half hour TV show each week in the late 1980s.

We were in Mitchell, SD to check out the Corn Palace. We had no idea it was an entertainment venue. We were given two for one tickets for front row seats to see Bill Engvall along with a meet and greet! I used our photo with him as my profile picture for quite some time.

We attend Indy500 every year. Well, not this year, sadly. We have dry camping RV/Tow card passes that are directly across from entrance to the track. In that lot are the IMS offices. I was at the kitchen sink & lo and behold it was Scott Dixon (one of the all time great drivers, still driving) & Dario Franchitti (great driver, retired due to race accident, was married to Ashley Judd) from Chip Gnassi Racing, standing next to our motorhome. My husband went out just to say hi and shake their hands, then left them alone. They were getting ready to film a spot for something. We have been around other racing “celebrities” but neither of us are into autographs or imposing on them. Husband did this because Dixon is one of his favorite IndyCar drivers & they were just hanging out at the back of their SUV with the lift gate up.

The celebrities I have met are many of the very well-known RV bloggers and YouTubers. My favorites are of course the Geeks on Tour, they have done technology training for many years for literally thousands of people. I never miss any of their new videos on YouTube. http://www.geeksontour.com

Over the years I have met hundreds of Armed Forces personnel while RVing. They are our celebrities. I would walk right by any singer or actor to shake the hand of a military person or first responder.
