I have a cousin that was Governor of Nevada in the 70”s
Also an Uncle that was a State Senator in California in the late 60”s
Members of our Family Tree include John Adams, Ty Cobb & Ted Williams.
My family is descendants of Adam and Eve, that’s really going back. Lol
Yes, I’m related to John Nance Garner, the 32 Vice President of the United States.
My family is descended from the Sperrywink massacre which resulted in “The Last of the Mohicans”
Hi, L J. Is “Sperrywink” possibly supposed to be Fort William Henry? If so, I’ll correct it. Have a great day. 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com
The family lore is that my mom is related to Bigfoot Wallace of the Texas Rangers.
James Beauregard Beam was my maternal grandmother’s uncle, aka Jim Beam. Yeah the bourbon whiskey. He owned the company pre and post prohibition. Never saw a penny of that money, but contributed to the cause a few times 😉
My mother’s family is part of the Boone family, as in Daniel Boone. On my father’s side we are tailgates to Wiiliam the Conquerer, via Henry.
My aunt and uncle, Grace and Harmon Dobson, founded the Whataburger hamburger chain.
My maternal grandmother dated the American Sculptor James E. Kelly, before she married my grandfather.
Famous or imfamous? My great great Uncle was “Bathtub John” Coughlin. Listed as the fourth most corrupt politician in Chicago history. But he also established the first zoo in Colorado Springs.
A few. Sam Clemons aka Mark Twain. I also qualify for the Mayflower Society
“The Duke” John Wayne’s fifth great grandmother carried my family name.
Not too proud of it, but a train robber named Pat Layne is in my family tree. He was a Tennessean who went to Missouri in the early 1900’s and joined a robber gang there. He later returned to Tennessee and was shot and killed from ambush in Marion County. I own the pistol that belonged to him.
Found out through family records and MyHeritage.com that Pocahontas is/was my 11th great-grandmother on my mother’s side. Had no clue.
I have searched my genealogy and Pocahontas is also my ? times great grandmother. Hello cousin 😀
She is my 11th grand aunt.
William Bradford, Mayflower, is 5th Great Grandfather; William Brewster, also. Raquel Welch is a 9th Cousin.
William Bradford is my 1st cousin , 11 times removed,.So we are related! The Allertons are my direct line from the Mayflower, Isaac Allerton is my 11th great grandfather.
My great uncle ( not blood ) is Bob Ross, painter extraordinaire! What a great human!👍🏻☮️✌🏻
“Bob Ross, painter extraordinaire!” is a very accurate statement, Alan. I loved to watch him and the ease with which he created such beautiful paintings (especially of mountains!). And I loved his mellow attitude and down-to-earth view of things. “We don’t make mistakes—we have happy accidents.” What a great guy with an exceptional talent. Maybe part of my love of his paintings is because there are no people in them. That’s just how I like it when I go to my 18 acres of remote-but-accessible mountain property. It’s just me and Mother Nature and the wild animals that share their home with me.😊 Have a good afternoon/evening. 😀 –Diane aka Mountain Mama at RVtravel.com
Hey Diane aka Mountain Mama,
What a great reply! No people that’s very true! We love our 5 plus acres as much as you love ❤️ your 18 I’m sure. We’ve been here for over 8 years and have never heard a siren 😂. Just trees, wildlife, rain and snow almost 2,000’ in the hills of Oregon. Alan & Lauren
How cool! Sounds like a beautiful place, Alan & Lauren. I don’t have a cabin or anything up there (yet), but it’s just so nice to know it’s there waiting for me when I can get away for a break from so-called “civilization.” It’s only 40 miles from my home north of Seattle, so it’s easy to get to, if I can fit it into my busy schedule. I envy you, living there. My property is on both sides of Index Creek, up just off of Hwy. 2 on the way to Stevens Pass in the Cascades. Sounds like our properties are quite similar.👍 What’s not to love? Take care. 😀 –Diane aka Mountain Mama (P.S. The license plate on my ’97 T-bird is MTNMAMA and on my ’75 Suburban is MTNMOMA. Both plate holders say, “I’d rather be in the mountains.”😊)
Your place would be perfect for a cabin!
We have a sign on the shelf that says “ The Mountains Are My Happy Place”
Do you work for rvtravel? I would like to send you some pictures of our place. How does one do that Mountain Mama?
I’ve just sent you an email, Alan. BTW, I have a little sign over my desk: “You’re off to great places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so get on your way!” –Dr. Seuss. I hope you folks have a great day! 😀 –Diane aka Mountain Mama at RVtravel.com
P.S. The email I sent to you at your address which shows on your comment just bounced. You can send me an email at diane@rvtravel.com
P.P.S Oops. My mistake. I left off part of your address. I’ll try it again. Sorry.
Thank you very much for sending me the pictures of your beautiful house and property, Alan! Love it! Take care. 😀 –Mountain Mama at RVtravel.com
We live in the south end of The Willamette Valley, below Eugene out on 4.5 acres. We love Oregon.
Sounds like a great place to live!
we stay away from downtown Portland! We live about 20 minutes from Sandy our closest town, which is fine with us!
I posted earlier that my Uncle Don served with General Patton.
Here’s the link. https://Vimeo.com/169783453
Just posted the link so people would believe me.
We believe you. Thanks, Jeff. Very interesting. Have a great day. 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com
You too Diane and the whole crew at rvtravel. Growing up you could take someone at their word. Today I am not sure what to believe. That’s why I posted the link.
Thanks, Jeff. I agree about the changes taking place (about not necessarily being able to take people at their word anymore, etc.). Very sad. And even getting scary, I think, with AI coming on so strong and so quickly, now. Worries me, to say the least. Take care. 😀 –Diane
I had a cousin who wrote the Israeli national anthem.
My grandson writes all the music scores for award winning rappers. Not exactly my preferred music, “Cardo Got Wings” is a great businessman and I’m very proud of where his talent took him.
Thanks, Lois. Your grandson, according to Wikipedia, is a very prolific writer for such a young man, not to mention getting a Grammy for Best Rap Song! You have every right to be proud of him. Have a great day! 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com
