While COVID is mostly behind us, it’s still affecting thousands of lives each day. For many of you, it may be affecting your Thanksgiving plans… yet again. Will you be spending your Thanksgiving today with friends or family? Just with those in your household/RV? Or with a smaller group than pre-COVID? The regular group?

My hubby and I both got COVID from our daughter and her family last week when went to watch the 2 young grandsons here in Oklahoma. Usually they go to see her husband’s folks near OKC for Thanksgiving Day while we stay at their house to watch their dog and cat. We stayed in our RV while they stayed home. We did Facetime them and our other daughter and her family and our son who all live in SE Montana.

Fewer than normal because in-laws have sinus infections. Instead spent the afternoon with my mother, my dear wife, and our dog. Did text well-wishes to friends spread across the country.

Just wife and myself today. Daughter and hubby over for dinner last night. Today they will be with his folks. However, because of the cell phone and computer technology, we will be with our cousins on both sides of our families, thousands of miles a way, talking, laughing and reminiscing as long as we want. Decades ago we would have had people gathered around the phone saying as much as we all could get in, within the 3 minute long distance call. This new fangled technology does have its place on days like this. That IS THANKSgiving.

Your headline is Friends or Family but no option for Friends is offered. We live in an Escapee Coop and will be having a potluck Thanksgiving Dinner for 140 close friends followed by dancing to an 18 piece swing band. Come join us in Jojoba Hills SKP Resort outside Temecula CA. We really are family.

The poll asks “friends or family” but those responses are not offered.
We will be with just another family member.

my sister’s family is in Chicago so my wife and I will spend Thanksgiving without them, it’s just too dangerous to drive into the city.

The people in my household are my regular group, so not sure how to respond! We don’t live near extended family nor do any of us wish to battle the travel crowds. There are 364 other days available in the year. 🙂

I have done Thanksgiving dinner every year since I can remember. There have always been numerous people here family, extended family, etc. This year I was blessed with a new Daughter- in- law, and she wants to make dinner and invited the tribe. She told me not to bring anything except my appetite, and although I am feeling a bit out of sorts, I am truly blessed! Got alot of Christmas shopping done! lol.

We had an early Thanksgiving with family because we all are pulled in different directions. Today we are having dinner with friends.

Your polls don’t appear anymore… did I screw up a setting in Chrome?

Sorry you’re having a problem with the polls, Greg. Here’s how Jessica, one of our IT folks, explained it: “Sometimes script blockers and ad blockers interfere with our polls since they are from a 3rd party site. If you have one of these try and turn it off and see if that fixes the issue.” Good luck! And we hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. 😀 –Diane

Is that next week with leftover friends and family, or food? 😆 Happy Thanksgiving, Donald. 😀 -Diane

We will have 2 new empty places at the table this year. That accounts for 1/3 of the normal gathering. Sad non-celebration.

So sorry for your losses, Kaeleen. That does make it very difficult, especially around the holidays. We wish you peace, love and good memories to help you get through. 🙂 –Diane

None of the above…one woman who is also a volunteer at the state park where we’re volunteering is coming over for dinner, although we don’t know her very well.

Actually we’ll be doing more than normal this year. Today we’re invited to our SIL’s siblings get together. It’s something we used to do frequently but haven’t in a long while. Then Saturday will be our get together at the oldest granddaughter’s with her husband’s family there too. Should all be fun.

My son’s family, as daughter is working. Nice and quiet with just the grand kids running around. It’s nice not to have to do all the cooking and cleaning the DW and I’ve done that for 45 years just come home with a doggy bag for a couple of days meals. But it’s also a day to be thankful for all what we have with family being #1. Everyone enjoy today.

We are full-time RVers and will have dinner at the park’s pot luck. We have done this for several years and always have a good dinner and enjoy the fellowship.

Our immediate family will be meeting at a restaurant for our Thanksgiving dinner.
We did it last year, over my objections, and it turned out okay.
A lot less work for my wife, but no leftovers for me. LOL

It will be just the two of us this year, like last year. It’s not because of Covid or anything of the sort. It’s the life of full-time RVing that we’ve chosen and we just aren’t anywhere close to family this year. Not sad. Thankful to be living our dream!
