What time do you usually eat dinner?

Have you ever met up with friends for dinner and their dinner time is way, way different from yours? If you usually eat dinner at 5:30, their 8 p.m. reservation might seem extremely late, and vice versa!

On a typical day, what time do you usually eat dinner? Before 5? Around 6? 7? Does it just depend on the day?

As always, thanks for voting. Please feel free to leave a comment, too.

Hi, Conni. That reminds me of the old saying, “I don’t care what you call me. Just don’t call me late for dinner.”😅 Have a good afternoon/evening. 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com

We are not particularly regular, consistent in our eating times. That is about as true when we’re traveling as when we are at home in our sticks-and-bricks. I voted between 6 and 7, but it can just as easily fall into a different category. 🙂

We too usually call the evening meal “supper”. I grew up in WNY, where the larger meal of the day was at noon – 1-2 p.m. on holidays.
Our main meal is in the evening, but it’s not huge, and it it is late (for us), say, after 6, I make do with a light snack. Much better/more comfortable for me

Being retired we can eat as the mood strikes. No set time. Supper, is usually after 7 PM if we eat at all. Size and time of lunch determines if we eat or not.

Call it what you will, our bigger meal is around 2 PM. We have a light snack around 6-7 PM, usually some fruit.

The only thing my wife makes for dinner is reservations…. we eat dinner when ever I feel like making it. It could be anytime between 5 and 7 pm

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner/Supper. Dinner/Supper for me is between 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm (most days around 2:30). Anything later than 5:00 and I’m tossing and turning all night, and that’s with an 11:00 bedtime. My husband now, the skinny jerk eats anytime he is in the camper or house. There are no set times for meals for him!

When I was still working if I was working day shift it was 5-6PM also midnight shift. Working afternoons I ate dinner at 1:30 PM and supper at work at 7:30. As someone else said dinner was the mid-day meal, supper was the evening meal. My family were farmers and dinner was the big meal of the day and came at midday where you still had plenty of time to burn off all those calories. Now retired and a new wife that grew up a city girl it’s no telling when the evening meal may come. However I have set a few ground rules that she doesn’t need to fix anything after 7 PM as I won’t have enough time to digest the food before bedtime. If I go to bed before my food is digested I will have stomach problems before I go to sleep. Lol

I usually eat dinner around noon. Because in the South we eat dinner mid day then have supper at night somewhere around 6:00. After all, Jesus had the last supper with his disciples, not the last dinner. 😁

I answered 5-6 but that depends on what time we eat lunch. If we are out and about, lunch may not happen until after 1pm. That delays the time we eat dinner, and it is usually a much lighter meal.

5-6 is our usual time. Anything after because running late is a bowl of cereal with fruit or take out close by.

5-6 but it depends on what’s happening and on those times that fall after 6 it usually brings us to a bowl of cereal and some fruit.

What Time Is Supper? Supper is always an evening meal. The specific hour of the evening depends on when you’re feeling hungry and how late you stay up! You could have an early supper at 5pm or a late supper at 10pm.

We used to always eat around 6pm, but as we’ve gotten older, we like to eat dinner between 4 -5pm, especially when eating out. When eating out we like to eat early to avoid the crowds and noise, and not have to worry about reservations. And, after eating early we have the whole evening available to do just about anything.

I still like to call the meal at that time of day supper.
