Remembering 9/11, and wondering what happened to us since then

Before going to bed last night, I read something about “what happened 18 years ago this morning”. It was sobering and sad as I remembered the people and events of September 11, 2001. Maybe that’s why my Spirit was moved to get up at 4 a.m. and reflect on the events of that day and how they changed our lives forever. Where were you 18 years ago this morning?

What has happened to us; all of us?

Since coming together as a country over that horrible act of terror, it saddens me to see the division that’s transpired. Fighting and arguing and instant hatred and anger seem to be “normal” behavior today.

Can we ever get back to getting along with one another, especially those we disagree with? I hope so and am hopeful it won’t take another 9/11 event.

For me, I choose to “come together” with my peeps; with you and the millions of others who are able to put aside their political differences while camping, RVing and “connecting” in nature.

THAT IS WHERE I AM HAPPY. That is where I feel safe. That is where I feel “hope” and optimism. That is where I see the simple goodness of human beings, of His creation. It inspires me to become a better and more helpful person.

While my Wednesday emails are used to announce the week’s Live Stream of the RV Show USA, I just wanted to take a minute to reflect and share my thoughts with you along with my sincere gratitude for your support of our show.

As host of The RV Show USA, I promise to do my best to take the high road, to be a straight shooter, to “own” my mistakes and to help inspire others.

Please consider taking an extra moment this morning to remember this day, to think about others and their families and to look past the differences you may have with those who’ve chosen a different path than you have. Life is short. Eternity is not.

Alan Warren’s radio program The RV Show USA airs on radio stations across the USA. It’s live streamed in San Antonio, Texas, at 7 p.m. (Central time), every Wednesday evening on YouTube and Facebook. The audio portion of the program airs on affiliated radio stations the following weekend.
