Sprinter RVs recalled: Brake calipers may leak

Daimler Vans USA, LLC (DVUSA) is recalling 9,094 model year 2019-2020 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Freightliner Sprinter vehicles equipped with electric parking brakes. Some of these vehicles are used on Class C motorhomes. The rear brake calipers may leak brake fluid into the housing of the electric parking brake connected to the rear axle service brake system, allowing air to enter the hydraulic brake system.

Air in the brake system can result in extended brake pedal travel, increasing the risk of a crash, which can lead to injury.

Remedy
DVUSA has not yet established a remedy. The recall is expected to begin January 25, 2021. Owners may contact DVUSA customer service at 1-877-762-8267. DVUSA’s number for this recall is VS3BREPB.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153).
