What we learned about you last week (March 30 – April 5)

Happy April! How’s everyone’s month starting off? I hope you’re feeling refreshed and rejuvenated and beginning to catch wafts of blooming flowers on your evening walks.

I’ll keep this short since last week I wrote a whole book (practically), so let’s jump right in.

Maybe Chuck watched a few action movies last Friday, or read a few horror books before asking Saturday’s question: When RVing, how often have you felt your life was in imminent danger from bad guys? Jeesh, Chuck! I’m very pleased to report that 85 percent of you have never felt your life was in imminent danger from bad guys, but unfortunately, 12 percent of you have. We got 84 votes, 3 percent of you, saying yes, two times or more! Yikes! Can you tell me about one of those times in the comments? I’m curious, but mostly I’m glad you’re alive to tell the tale!

On Monday we learned that just about half of you hardly ever play board or card games. A little over a quarter of you play fairly often though, and 10 percent say you play all the time. I think the 16 percent of you who never play board or card games are missing out! They’re tons of fun and can be a great way to pass the time with your partner or friends. A few of you commented that we should’ve included playing games on your phone, but we don’t think that’s quite the same thing.

Even though potato puns are apeeling, I’ll stay away from them. Most of you, 33 percent, like your potatoes baked, huh? That’s what you told us on Tuesday’s poll. That’s interesting! I wouldn’t have thought that would have been your favorite way to eat a potato. Second place with 529 votes, 20 percent, say you like french fries the most, and third place at 18 percent of votes said mashed. I’ll attach the survey here so you can see the rest of the numbers (and you can click on the photo to make it bigger).

A whopping 77 percent of you told us on Wednesday that you don’t have a bumper sticker on either your car or RV. Only 9 percent of you have a bumper sticker on both your car and RV, and a tied 7 percent of you have one on either one or the other. Any really funny ones out there? Reader Lisa Cantrell commented, “My car, 10 years old when we started but with very low mileage, had a few scratches on it that began to rust. I was not about to pay for body work so one day hit upon the idea of sticking bumper stickers over them. Then we just kept going. Been on the road for 4 years now and the car has stickers from everywhere we’ve been that sells them.” Love it, Lisa!

On Thursday we wanted to know how many countries you’ve visited in your lifetime. Let’s go in order here: 6 percent of you have never traveled outside the U.S., 21 percent of you have visited two countries, 27 percent (the majority) have visited between three and five, 23 percent have visited between 5-10, 11 percent of you have traveled to 10-15 countries, and a combined 13 percent of you have been to 15+. Debi Pitzer’s comment made me giggle. She wrote, “I’ve been to 2! countries… Mexico and Texas (Texas is a whole ‘nother country!). Lol!”

Okidokie, potato lovers! Gotta jet! See you in a week.

My wife and I spent our adult years working in Germany and Japan for DoD. When we finally retired and moved back to the US, we did not know our own country. That’s why we got into RVing and been loving it for the past 12 years. Though we totally enjoyed our travels abroad and the countries we visited, the sights to be seen in America rival many of the beautiful sights overseas.

While active duty Air Force stationed in Naples, Italy from 88-92, we visited 9 countries making it a 4-year vacation. Additionally, I’ve been to 7 other countries and several Caribbean islands.
And Texas! And 26 other states.

My wife and I we’re Intl flight attendants for 25+ years. We missed America and that is what brought us to using our 5 th wheel to see this beautiful country while sleeping in our own bed, etc.
