Motorcyclists assault campers in California campground

A peaceful afternoon in the California Sierras was disrupted as members of a ‘bike group’ rolled in and confronted campers. The local sheriff’s office is asking the public to help in what turned into a felony assault and battery investigation.

Bike group verbal spat turns violent

The Sierra County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help in identifying and locating suspects involved in a felony assault and battery investigation. On September 4, 2024, at around 5 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a fight at Carlton Campground in western Sierra County.

Three young males approached campers at Carlton Campground, and a verbal altercation ensued. Things went from bad to worse, as it went from verbal to physical. All three suspects were riding dirt bikes and at least one was seen driving a white pickup truck.

Suspects in teens to early 20s

Law enforcement describes the suspects as all appearing to be in their late teens to early 20s and of White/Caucasian descent.

The first is over 6’ tall, with a neck tattoo. He was wearing blue and white swim trunks with stars. His name may be “Cayden.” The second suspect is around 6’ tall, with dark hair. The third suspect has short blond hair, and was wearing a thin jacket with a flower emblem. This suspect said he was associated with a local bike group. His name may be “Jack.”

The suspects stated they were frequent visitors to Sierra County and affiliated with a local motorcyclists group. One of the suspects also mentioned he was from the Concord, Calif., area.

Not first run-in with campground authorities

Aside from the dirt bikes, another vehicle was involved. It was a ’90s model Chevy or Ford pickup truck with coach doors. Before their license plates could be recorded, the suspects removed them.

U.S. Forest Service employees have had previous contact with the three suspects. This contact was at Carlton Campground about two weeks before this incident. At that time, an illegal campfire caused the contact; authorities did not identify any of the men.

Wondering why US Forest Service didn’t identify the three individuals during their first contact two weeks prior? Kind of common sense to do this and a basic law enforcement concept…

Thank you, Russ and Tina! 🙂 As Luke notes, it seems odd that there is so little known about the bikers, given their recent history. Hopefully, they are found and duly treated to an appropriate punishment. Have a great day and safe travels! 😉

Bike group? I proffer – young thugs. They are not true bikers.

LOL…The headline makes it sound like Hells Angels invaded the campground. Dirt bikes aren’t motorcycles…at least not to real motorcyclists.

They aren’t “bikers”. Just three entitled magas on the loose.
