Body of Travis Decker, suspected of killing daughters in campground, believed found

Three months after three young sisters were found dead in the Rock Island Campground in Washington’s Cascade mountains, authorities say they have likely located the remains of their father, Travis Decker, who is believed to have killed them. The campground is about 150 miles east of Seattle.

Search teams discovered human remains this week in thick woods south of Leavenworth, only a few miles from the remote U.S. Forest Service campground where the girls’ bodies were recovered. The find could bring closure to an intense manhunt for Decker which had generated false sightings in several states.

The girls were reported missing May 30 by the girls’ mother after Decker did not return them home from a planned visitation. Decker, a former U.S. Army member, had been homeless and was living out of a pickup.

“While positive identification has not yet been confirmed, preliminary findings suggest the remains belong to Travis Decker,” the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.

Sheriff Mike Morrison told CNN affiliate KIRO that the discovery on Grindstone Mountain included bone fragments, clothing, and other personal belongings.

To RV Travel: Why do I now have to prove my security by saying I am not a robot on EVERY news article I read? If this has to be done, do it once when we begin, not every time. Thank you.

Hi, Thomas and Linda. I’ve forwarded your comments to the “powers that be,” including Kim, our IT dude, to see if they know why that’s happening. Thanks for your patience in the meantime. Have a good evening/night. 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com

Linda, that should not be happening. We’ll have our expert on this check out what is going on. It may be a security setting on your end as I can’t recall reading a complaint like this before. FYI, we have to go to great lengths these days to keep away spammers and scammers and others who would do us harm. If you think you are inconvenienced by this (and for good reason, of course), imagine how we feel, having to deal with dozens, even hundreds or thousands of attacks on us every single day. Some day, the bad guys will get to be too much, and small time publishers like RVtravel.com will just have to roll over and close up shop. It’s depressing! — Chuck/publisher

I am not a robot either. Just started for me today. Irritating yes. Worth the two seconds to read the great content.

My comment is that this type of article is not appropriate for an RV newsletter. “If it bleeds it leads”, is the attitude of most mainstream news agencies … So, if I want blood and guts I can go there, but don’t want to read it here.
